KevinIsPwnWe're getting there. Not much to talk about, just adding the last few outstanding features, fixing bugs, and polishing things up for the public beta. We've been adding people to the alpha that signed up in the steam group. Sign up there if you want a chance of getting in early.

DanceNumberdo you have a set of rules in place for players on the site?

Yes. We've formulated what we think to be an extremely sensible list of rules. We've figured these rules out almost entirely over the past few months, and we're actually going to confirm them in an admin meeting this Saturday.

DanceNumberAlso how will these rules be enforced?
  • We have what is essentially a chart that we plan to follow in most situations with a list of offences and number of times the user has committed the offence that leads to a certain number of days/weeks/months ban.
  • Mods follow this grid and dole out bans from one hour up to a month, admins can ban up to three months, and anything higher will be confirmed by a committee of admins that meets weekly.
  • There are !admin commands in all chats that can notify mods/admins of any issues occurring in real time.
  • There will be a form for users to report things like trolling, griefing, etc. It can also be able to appeal bans.
DanceNumberWill people be free to spam chat or play troll classes in game, or is there an action plan to mitigate these things?

Being intentionally useless to your team or harassing other users will put you at threat of being banned. Users can report you to any mods/ admins that are online with the "!admin" command instantly or report it afterwards in a form.

DanceNumberDo you embrace the "it's just a lobby" mentality or do you want this to be more serious?

On a personal note, I think matchmaking will be a great outlet for people that just want to goof off in a 6v6-ish format. I think "serious" is a pretty strong word, but I think that users should go into lobbies planning to try their best. Hopefully I answered your questions decently.

BisquitWhen is this going public?

No set date, but we are rapidly approaching an open beta. We'll post as soon as we have a date set, though.

We're rapidly approaching a place of comfort for a public beta. I wouldn't use the word "close" but I also wouldn't discourage others from using it. There are a couple outstanding features to finish, some bugs to fix, and a bit of general polishing to do, but we're in a very good spot right now. As we've said before, we really appreciate the support and excitement of the competitive TF2 community about this site, and we look forward to you guys finally being able to play on it. In the above image is our sleek new logo. Hopefully you guys like it. Feel free to ask (almost) any questions in this thread and someone from Stadium (me or devs or admin team) will be happy to answer it.

Why you felt the need of changeing the logo? I dunno... I think I like more the old one, it really gave the idea of an arena/stadium and also reminded me a bit of the TFTV one (which is a good thing imho).

Just like our devs have been working on the site itself over the past few months, our administration team has also been hard at work on rules and procedures. Here's a write up by Rand (our Administrative Leader) and myself about how the team plans on moderating the site. The post also includes the list of rules at this moment. These rules are subject to change based on community feedback, so we'd love to hear your opinions on here before our actual open beta release. Thanks.

nice rule set kevin! Very similar to a lot of the stuff that I found worked when I was helping with tf2c. A little more simple though. I do like the section talking about how you plan to enforce it. Transparency should always be #1 for your mod team (with the exception of cheat detection).

Is this gonna be like a higher skilled version of TF2Center? Like a noob friendly TF2Pickup or is it meant to be a replacement for TF2Center? I could be very wrong but I kinda feel like your average TF2Center player won't be very keen in switching or even know that this exists. I feel like if you want the TF2Center crowd then you really need to spread the advantages of this around or else they will just write this off and continue using TF2Center. People aren't gonna use this unless they hear about how this is so much better than TF2Center and how this does that so much better and how masternoob is idiot admin. It's looking good but I think advertising this is very important if you want people to start playing on it.

Exactly, center got their player base by advertising and a great timing on TF2Lobby going RIP.
There is no reason to use this if there isn't anyone playing. How are you going to make sure that we are all going to use stadium?

+1. TF2C staff is worst ever I seen, hello Jayserp. TF2Stadium is very promising, when TF2C stopped in progress and slowly dying. TF2 Stadium already better than TF2C. It's my opinion as alpha tester and (in past) active player on TF2c

The number 1 thing that ruins games on tf2c is people leaving games, even with the sub system.

If tf2stadium offers harsher penalties and actually deters people from leaving then it will be much more enjoyable.

There should also be something like a pool of people ready to sub for certain classes. There should also be incentive to play classes like med and heavy.

More news!

I've had the pleasure of working with Tragicservers.com for Newbie Mixes for the past year. Anything that we've needed to provide the newest players the best experience possible, Tragic has given us without hesitation. This experience gave me total confidence moving forward with tragicservers.com on this project.

TragicServers.com is providing us with a VPS with which to host the site, and several NA gameservers to be used. We're grateful for this opportunity to not have to raise money from the community. This allows us to avoid paywalls for different features, so everyone can get the best possible experience.
