flatlinepugchamp's priorities are completely out of whack. like instead of adding fadds/fremoves or doing stuff people actually want tsc is busy tweaking custom sounds and shit. we don't want that. we want an actual functioning service. i do not understand how you can fail harder than valve at actually using your ear holes to listen to people talk; at least valve has the excuse of being an actual corporation abstracted in some form away from its users. pugchamp is right here on TFTV and i'm finding it increasingly hard to believe that they aren't just slapping their hands over their ears and going "LALALALALALA" every time someone posts here. it's actually fucking insane and has honestly destroyed the opinions i had of erynn and tsc.
please, just add fadds and fremoves instead of creating an ELO system for a pug website. i beg you. it cannot be this hard.
The only one ive seen complaining about this is you lol

Wow. I am honestly seeing more and more why people stop doing stuff for this community. Instead of going "LALALALALA" on this one I will respond to a couple of your points.
1. This is a free service that multiple people have spent a lot of their free time and money on. Unlike valve, we do not get paid so Fuck off.
2. We are working on multiple features at once. If we could copy paste our fadd and fremove we would have done that. There is a reason we haven't implemented them and it is because it makes the site extremely unstable. We are rewriting some of the bigger parts of the site so this might become a thing.
3. We also currently have other priorities personally, and in this community - both of us are involved with other stuff in the community and this next month is especially busy for us.
4. People seem to forget that this project is O P E N S O U R C E. No one, except recently, has even bothered to show interest in learning how they can help. I spent this past week helping a potential new dev set up the system and learn the ins and outs of how things work, and what is on the list to do. So fuck off, learn to actually code, and make a pull request and we can test it out.
This project started out with me messaging tsc in the tftv slack, who I never spoken to before except for a question or two about a nodecg bundle I was working on for Dreamhack last fall. People were discussing pug sites/lobby sites and pugme was having a hard time. I said, "we should make a pug site kappa and we could call it pugchamp". If I knew how we would of felt 6 months in I would have never have messaged him. I can honestly say this was one of the worst ideas I have ever had. Dango, if you read this and are still in Ottawa, I don't think people actually appreciated how much work you put in making your site and if you had to deal with an ounce of this community in trying to do good, you are owed a drink or 4.

It's ok, my opinion of you was never that high anyway.

as much as i like to complain about pugchamp, i deeply appreciate your work. It might not seem like much, but pugchamp has become my preferred way of playing tf2!

I just think it's a little bit absurd that there's no way to kill a pug (without being banned automatically and not even being able to appeal in the case that the site lags you out) so you have to pick teams and start the pug before an admin can kill what should have been aborted/reset in the draft.

or maybe a system where if both captains agree the pug dies, sort of "Report as failed" button. I don't get why PugChamp is getting so much shit, their service works well and often provides balanced games.

Alright, I've been baited into replying to this thread by the unreal amount of vitriol directed at erynn.
A few points I'd like to make:
- we are reading EVERYTHING posted here, posted in our Discord, tweeted at us on Twitter, emailed to us, etc.and more importantly considering it. We may not acknowledge it, but we have definitely read it
- we don't publicly lay out our development priorities because each person has a different vision on what the website should be (including us), so exposing them will lead to heated and drawn-out debates and explaining our rationale would take a lot of time we'd rather be spending on getting them done.
- we aren't actually spending a lot of our time on small and inconsequential items. The vast majority of our development time is spent on designing and developing solutions to our top priorities, which I can confirm includes structural overhauls to fix major issues. Sometimes we do take a bit of time to solve smaller issues because we have a clear idea of how to and can quickly get them out (e.g. sound customization), and sometimes we do interim workarounds to fix problems while we work on bigger solutions (e.g. disabling ratings).
- we aren't the best at communication. At the core, we're a team of two, and between both of us there isn't much time to do PR. We are trying to do better, including establishing a blog where we discuss major issues and changes, but ultimately we are resource-constrained.
Now, I should be receiving all of the blame for PugChamp's issues, as erynn has been running around trying to put out the various issues that have been popping up while I'm trying to get the rest of my life in order. In all honesty, I haven't been spending much time recently on developing and maintaining PugChamp. This month I've wrapped up a full-time job and moved back home temporarily, underwent surgery (which I'm still recovering from), and will be moving once again before the month ends. Among all this I've also been working a lot behind the scenes for i58 as the event rapidly approaches.
Hopefully I'll have time to work on the site a lot more in coming months, but honestly it's become hard to find the drive to do so whenever I'm reading the posts or chat messages of entitled people who more often than not use slurs like "faggot," "retard," and "autist" while making their points and expect us to share the exact same vision and ideas that they do. When we started developing this project last December, I expected it to be a one-and-done deal; instead, several months later, it's rapidly expanded to cover thousands of games and players across four continents. It's been both exhilarating and terrifying, and filled with more growing pains that we could have ever imagined.

wow i fucked up
like bear said there are some things about the site that are a bit absurd but i'm just gonna shut up now because if i didn't know any of these things about pugchamp, like the dev blog, i don't think i can comment on how the site should be run

is pugchamp getting ddos'd or something?

I am not sure what is going on. I can see and log into the NA website just fine so it's hard for me to diagnose what the issue is. If you're having issues, can you try doing a traceroute?

Should be good now. Just got home and rebooted mix. Main site looks fine. There were no logs of anything being null routed but I am not sure how the ddos protection handles stuff. I usually get alerted when the sites are targeted.

erynnWow. I am honestly seeing more and more why people stop doing stuff for this community.
The community is getting kinda tiny. Doesn't take a whole lot of toxic, uninformed people to make it feel like everyone is out to get you, especially when you're working like hell and reading shitpost after shitpost. Seems to me that almost everyone here hugely appreciates what you two are doing; the game would not be the same without the services you provide.
Fuck I don't actually have anything productive to say. pogs out for pugchamp

Is it just giving you the message, or are you actually not able to add up. try clearing your cache. It is a bug that sometimes happens. Other people from that pug can add up.
