I remember seeing this on a stream somewhere but some streamer mentioned how if everyone tagged teamfortress.tv in their steam name, match making and casual players would come over to us and could discover competitive. That means we can't act like circlejerkers tho guys. Gotta be welcoming and open af now
are we sure we want new players exposed to people like SHOWSTOPPERK1NG?
how many people actually look at a site name in someone's name and actually bothers to type it into their web browser?

it's shorter and and it's probably more attractive
like
Smesi | tf.gg
Smesiuse "tf.gg" instead

I cant wait to get people going, "wow this tf.gg clan is really big"

i found competitive by following the b4nny's twitch link while playing a pub with him and thinking he was really good. As long as we don't make ourselves look like idiots while doing this it should help
I remember that's what people did many years ago when tftv was new. It worked pretty well.
diamond0wnerwe have to rock the tf.gg tag harder than those slaves who rock the trade.tf tag
Quite the daunting task, for sure

I personally found teamfortress tv when looking for more invite coverage after Extelevision started focusing on highlander. This was maybe the first season teamfortress tv started uploading on YouTube. Basically, the best thing for us though would be to advertise within and outside of our game. Streams ingame and on vods. Not just the descriptions either. Literally put on your stream: "like what you see? Teamfortress.tv for more" or something
Are you sure you don't want to go with warhuryeah.gg?
Maybe also slapping a small tf tv icon with link on youtube videos might work
2 things need to happen first.
First-We need to decide if we want to point people towards watching comp or playing comp
Second-Make a splash page designed for people seeing tftv for the first time

Kind of off topic but why is the redirect URL tf.gg instead of tf.tv? Was there some issue with the .tv domain?

that's actually a good idea. similar to tf2center, a splash page for newcomers that haven't signed in yet with steam

this was my idea im taking u to court over my missing upvotes
ok but seriously the big part of this is not just playing w/ tf.gg in your name (which I think is a bad idea) but also actually being a good player. Make sure you're being helpful, courteous, and encouraging. Don't be silent the whole game, actually try to lead your team and explain strats they don't get, complement other players on their successes, say gg; basically don't play like you do in pugs. You're being a direct ambassador of the tf.tv community, and by extension the high level comp community, to the pub players. Make sure you make a good first impression so they actually stick around. Its really easy to get upset in MM (i do) so if you're actually getting tilted, don't take it out on the other players. If you get mad mode 24/7, it might just be worth not doing this.
as far as what tag to use, I think "| www.teamfortress.tv" or "| www.tf.gg" works better because it makes it more clear its a website that they can visit.

didn't we already try and do this with playcomp.tf?

Simply because its easier to focus on one than focus on both. Its not like either one are bad.

what I'm saying is these two things are more or less mutual - with one comes the other
