This is incredible. Looks like it would make casting much easier and by default turn the cast into a better product for the viewers.

No more of that classic "well it looks like the blue team will have an easy time pushing yard here, unless, but, no... the red roamer was waiting for them in the corner, I didn't even see him over there, but great play from him"

Instead it can "Blue team with the advantage are making their move into yard, but look at this there is a red player nearby on the flank, I dont think he has been spotted, the combo is going to have to be on their toes here, lets see if they spot him...theyre getting closer, still no notice, they're right ontop of eachother, the play should happen any second now, here it comes, and ohhh, the medic drops! excellent play from the red soldier"

Way easier to keep track of all the classes and allow casters to filter out non-relevant information for what is more clearly a play about to happen/push about come based on player movements. A godsend for those who cast in free fly like I do.

i have no idea if this is close to possible, but i think maybe a little flash on the playerlist whenever someone switches classes or loadouts. this could only be for the casters, though. a bunch of flashes on the side of the screen might look weird to a viewer but this helps avoid the awkward "oh they kritzed! we're terrible casters didn't even see that kritzkrieg building" moment

Blood, if you're casting for TFTV any time soon you'll probably get hooked up. I don't want to give it out all myself during this early development because I want to keep people on the newest versions, and it becomes a hassle for me if I have to remember a dozen people to go to.
When it's publicly released I'll make a thread dedicated to it, which will have download links and how to set it up.

Quite like Shifta's idea, I'll see if I can fit it in somewhere unobtrusively.

How about tooltip style notification that would fade out after a set amount of time, on the top or bottom left of the screen to display class changes or loadout change?

Loved it blue.

I saw that you want to remove the outline for players that are extremely far away, but what about players that are directly viewable (i.e. not behind a wall). I personally would prefer it if players that are within view of the camera are not outlined.

This is an interesting idea, I'll try it out. It certainly sounds better than adding in health bars, which some people have asked for.

Edit: extine has a copy for FITES LAN casts, should be cool

That's a good idea, however, maybe changing colours would work better since it's on a stream and people have to deal with some blockiness. Some people can only manage like 360p or something, so for RED, say warmer colours indicate more HP, and cooler for BLU may be more effective.

All in all, great work on the plugin!

For casters using this:

The Steampipe update scheduled for 30th April will break the plugin. I have a fixed version ready which I'll send out closer to the time, in case Valve changes more stuff.
It'll include the custom colours, a performance boost & likely sticky bomb hax. Gonna change to cvars rather than just a toggle command too, to make scripting stuff easier.

sorry for the big bump and for taking so long to update, real life got real :(
in a month or so I'll have much more time to work on this & get the public version out

edit: the update today doesn't affect this plugin. I'm also considering making it public after steampipe so people can use it in demo reviews and such, since it seems pretty stable and will have built-in checks to make sure you are in STV/demos
