I just have spotify scrobble to last.fm, then have http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=379100 output my current song on last.fm to a text file which OBS will show on stream.
The other option is to just capture the song info part of your spotify window if you want the album art too

Most convoluted and half-working solution to a request ever...if he had 2 monitors he could just have spotify open on the other one and flick his eyes another 20cm without playing via OBS.
