Steam not launching

I am posting this on behalf of my friend file.

For the past month, I've encountered a lot of issues with Steam. The most troubling is that Steam no longer launches at all.
When I open Steam.exe, it goes to the "Verifying Installation..." screen as usual, then goes to the "Connecting Steam Account: ..." window. After the window, the process just cuts out and dies. There are no warnings or 'steam is not responding' window from Windows, it just closes out.

Solutions tried:
restarting computer.
deleting all files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam except steam.exe and steamapps.
completely reinstalling steam.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this issue. Thanks!

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

Search for 'ClientRegistry.blob' and delete that, and try to login.

E: You deleted the whole folder, maybe just try to delete this? :S

According to file, ClientRegistry.blob is not present in his Steam folder.

Thanks for replying, but that doesn't look like my problem. My steam kinda just doesn't go further through the startup process than the "connecting to steam account..." screen. After that, the startup just die with no error message or anything.

task manager to see if any processes related to steam are running. Had this problem a few times and just ending them and trying again helped.

Just checked, nothing there pointed to your fix. Thanks a lot for giving advice though!

It's been a long time since I've used Windows, but try using one of those programs that will uninstall software and then also delete related registry entries? Just remember to pray to the registry gods first because messing that up can kill your Windows install pretty easily.

I think this is the one I've used before: http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Assuming you did as #10 suggested:

Reinstall windows. That's it.
I mean it won't take longer than waiting another month for a magical solution.

When this happened to me it was a driver issue, windows update somehow uninstalled the graphics card drivers on my pc and steam would not launch. Try updating/reinstalling those.
