hey, as we all know tf2 is very badly optimized, so i have an issue. i'm using a highframes config from cris, and when i get into battle my fps is low. i also tried maxframes but it was the same. is there any way to fix this and if it can't be fixed, do you know any fps configs that are more effective?

Firstly, it would help if you would provide PC specs so we can get an idea of where the problem(s) might be coming from.

Also, when did you start noticing substantial drops? Before or after the Halloween update?

If you are using configs and you still have low fps its time to upgrade your PC. Start with a better CPU if tf2 fps is your priority.

http://teamfortress.tv/thread/20172/my-fps-config if you want maximum frames on dxlevel 81

http://teamfortress.tv/thread/20142/rhapsodys-performance-config this is for dxlevel 9

But like Dance said, if you're still experiencing problems while using an fps config intended to improve your fps, it's probably time you decided to upgrade your cpu (which is most likely bottlenecking your fps).

Honestly tf2 is the worst optimized game in existence, he might not even have a pc that bad but this shit will burn anything sub i5 to the ground

Sub i5 is not very good these days. Those processors have been out like 5 years.

yea sure my specs are:intel core quad q8400 2.66 ghz
4 gb ram
geforce gtx 260

and before the halloween there were some drops but not as big as now

halloween events have significant impact on overall FPS. Don't forget to change you power settings to high performance mode if you're using a desktop.

WithADanceNumberSub i5 is not very good these days. Those processors have been out like 5 years.

Yeah well but at least you could easily run tf2 on max settings with a mid-end i5 and gfx 5 years ago
