FogRIP TF2 Invite?

Crazy shit either way.

from what I gather everything is staying the same they're just turning csgo invite into pro league

edit: dallas lan is being replaced for this international thing though so I'm not sure

That's what I was wondering, not really sure where tf2 will fit into this.

Lan is now alternating each season between la and cologne so this doesn't look good for invite tf2

the fact tf2 isn't mentioned anywhere at all is more insulting than them just saying they cut tf2 from lan

I forget who asked lpkane at LAN, but apparently ESEA will continue to have TF2 LAN finals until they get a stadium venue. Which, yeah, looks like a stadium venue now.

So yeah, this might be bad. However, more details will be announced tomorrow, so hopefully they shed light on that.

I am very happy for CS, though.

edit: What lpkane just posted on the ESEA article (first comment):

ESEA Invite -> Pro League, hosted on ESEA
ESEA LAN -> Pro League Finals, massive production quality, hosted by ESL
$150k ESEA Invite prize money per season -> $500k Pro League prize money per season

progress, this is what we do

This is spelling very bad things for TF2 LAN finals, and maybe TF2 in ESEA in general.

I don't see why you think so, less than 2%(?) of esea's paying users are TF2 players, their tf2 section operates at a loss and it's an announcement of a huge partnership between ESEA and ESL specifically for csgo. I'm not implying TF2 is shit or anything because it's not, but the overwhelming majority of the people interested in this news don't care or don't know about esea's tf2 division

I'm pretty sure they "operating at a loss" thing has been shown to be wrong since 2013.

I hope esea finds a way to incorporate tf2 into this plan. They just fixed a lot of the issues with their tf2 service, and the tf2 numbers are as big as they have been since tf2 Main was a thing. Newbie mixes is also organizing stuff with a few large tf2/ general gaming personalities that will hopefully bring in lots of new blood into the scene (with many going into esea by the end of this year). Would be a shame if we didn't get a lan anymore, as that's one of the huge selling points for esea.

I'm super happy for CS, this is huge for their scene. But the selfish part of me can't help but be terrified of the announcement they have tomorrow.

I talked quite a bit with lpkane at esea lan actually. The dude enjoys watching competitive tf2. He just finds it hard for them to want to support us when we trash on them every chance we get on this forum. It's funny he said that because twitch john said more or less the same thing about us. I didn't know it was a thing, but twitch john says that some of us feel like he abandoned us. These are the guys keeping this game alive more or less. The fact they haven't outright left us but choose to support us just from a distance, I say you just have fun with what you have.
