#93 Rainbow Konr wings for everyone:Image to crosshair in Customization
the301stspartanHere you go, 70% size:

If you have the time, I would love it if you were able to make the rainbow konr wings (or tell me how to make them) about the size of the default scout crosshair at cl_crosshair_scale 36 with a dot in the center outlined (or an outline for the in-game dot at like cl_crosshair_scale 20-22 or so in order for me to use broesel's crosshair switcher).

I've been wanting to use konr_wings for a while in a fashion similar to this . But unfortunately most of the hud crosshairs and hud dots have been off center. Yours is the first that has been so centered for me (1920 x 1080) and it would be amazing if it was just a little smaller and with that ability to outline a dot in the middle. So if you or anyone else would be able to tell me how to create a perfectly centered crosshair like that (or would like to work with me on making it for me), I would really appreciate it and even throw in a couple keys if needed!

Thanks so much for making the original crosshair regardless!

#20 Fail at 120hz in Hardware

It says 144hz on my Nvidia control panel and on my Display Advanced Settings. And I do notice on my desktop the difference between 60hz and 144hz by moving my mouse.

What's weird is that it just doesn't seem to translate to in-game. At first I thought that I was just being blind, but now that I found out that lightboost isn't working in TF2 either, I'm thinking maybe something might be changing my settings in TF2 when I open it? I have -refresh 144 and I tried -freq 144 and -freq 120 as well. My frames are well above what's needed to notice the difference (range of 150-400 fps). Maybe I just don't notice it as much because I twitch aim a good deal as scout? Not sure haha.

If anyone can figure out a fix for this (or somehow show me that my game is in fact running at 144hz for sure and my eyes are just awful), then I'd gladly give him/her some keys for the trouble! I just want to make sure that my monitor isn't going to waste haha.

I used the ToastyX CRU method which supposedly doesn't require Ctrl + T

#13 Fail at 120hz in Hardware

I just enabled lightboost and I noticed something interesting. My computer is in 3D mode with lightboost as an option when I'm on my desktop. However, when I go into TF2, the monitor OSD doesn't show it as being in 3D mode with lightboost enabled. Is this normal or is this an indication that TF2 isn't using the proper monitor settings for some reason?

#3 Fail at 120hz in Hardware

Thanks for the reply profix, but I have the refresh rate set to 144hz in that manner already =( The monitor shows up as Generic PnP Monitor (I believe due to the fact that windows uses a generic driver for it), but it's set at 144hz. Hopefully putting -refresh 144 doesn't hurt. And yeah, Lightboost will only work for 120hz and below I believe, but I wouldn't mind using lightboost if it makes me notice the difference haha.

#1 Fail at 120hz in Hardware

So I recently just purchased an Asus VG248QE 144hz monitor. I heard a lot of awesome things from others about the upgrade from 60hz to 120hz, so I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade from my laptop 15" screen.

Here's the problem though, I can't really notice much of a difference in-game between 60hz and 120hz. Everyone says the change is like night and day, but maybe I'm just blind?

I plugged the monitor into my laptop using dual link DVI and set it as my main display before setting the monitor to display at 144hz. My TF2 launch settings are: -full -w 1920 -h 1080 -refresh 144 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -nojoy. My graphics card is a Nvidia 485m, and I tried playing TF2 at both 132 max fps and without a cap (range from 150-400 fps). I also play on 9.1 in/350 as scout.

But yeah, I honestly am not sure if it's just my eyes not noticing the difference or if I'm not actually using my monitor properly. I don't have lightboost enabled mainly because the colors on the Asus are kinda dim and brownish/pinkish already (and I don't want the colors to get worse), but people tell me the difference from 60 -> 120 should be more than enough to notice. The only thing I can notice is that on my desktop, I made a window smaller and dragged it side to side on both settings. At 60hz, the window looks a little bit more jagged when I move it than at 144hz (though maybe I'm just trying to convince myself of that). In game, the only difference I really notice is that my screen is bigger, so other players look larger for me to shoot.

If anyone has any ideas/suggestions to help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated! I just really want to make sure that I'm using the 120/144hz monitor properly. Even if I can't notice the difference consciously, I'd love to be reassured that I'm not wasting a $300 purchase unconsciously as well. Or if anyone has an Asus VG248QE, it'd be awesome if you could walk me through step by step as to how you set it up (including ICC/lightboost if you think it's worth it).

Thanks so much to all in advance!

#10 Looking for a scout mentor in Mentoring

Thanks everyone so far! Getting a new monitor and keyboard today, so hopefully they help enhance my DM a tiny bit as well. Big thing I'm working on currently is better movement in both 1v1 situations and in large scale fights, so any help there is greatly appreciated.

I've had two awesome people willing to give me advice so far (thanks so much you two!), but if anyone else would like to help me as well, the more the merrier! I like getting all different kinds of perspectives to try and be able to play/adapt to all different situations and styles. Feel free to add me or anything!

#1 Looking for a scout mentor in Mentoring

I'm looking for a scout mentor to help me work on overall just playing better in 6v6 matches. I would say I have average aim/movement/game sense/comms (maybe around silver/low-mid open in my humble opinion), but I'd love to be able to bring my gameplay to higher levels as I would love to be able to play in IM one day.

I spend most of my time watching TF2 videos of high level players and mixing/pugging/scrimming. I play a ton of TF2 during the week, and I would greatly appreciate a mentor to even just give me just generic guidelines and maybe even answer a few generic questions if he/she doesn't have the time to go super in-depth.

Just add me or reply here if you're able to help! I'd be eternally grateful haha!
