#5 TF2 Launch Error: "Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' in Q/A Help

check the file itself? I remember a while back i had a fucky problem with it and for some reason the gameinfo was completely wrong, it was pointing the filesystem to some appid that wasn't 440 (tf2's). You can probably use the one you dl'd to crosscheck.

#15 Computer has lost it's processing power. in Hardware

Try remounting your backplate for the cooler? Never seen a cooler just randomly come loose, even the older shoddy plastic tab coolers.

#7 Graphical glitch on dx8 in Q/A Help
JarateKingWhenever I got graphics issues like that, it was always because my graphics cards would be well used and overheating then. Try cooling your computer a bit better if possible (and of course try reducing the load a bit more) and see if that makes a difference.

^ Basically his solution. Your game is under heavy artifacting which is largely attributed to your GPU dying or being pushed too hard. I've never read of a gpu artifacting under tf2's load but if you have no dedicated gpu/use an igpu that could be your problem. Perhaps underclock your gpu and see if the problem goes away?

Also check your temperature for it through your preferred methods.

Another con is that his elmo voice needs a bit more working on, other than that; solid player who takes the game seriously when need be.

#10 Dealing with the yips in TF2 General Discussion

boost your gamer ego by playing ez games like dirty bomb some shitty f2p fps and having a remotely similar sensitivity. Crush everyone in the game then come back refreshed and excited to actually having movement rather than quake levels of fuck all air movement.

Jump and crouch around corners with sniper rifles and laugh

SquidamatronMy casual_criteria.vdf was empty until I checked off maps I wanted to play in casual mm. Didn't even play a game, just checked them off, started/ended a search.

Oh well, fix is on the way regardless

Welp everything ive thought up to this point is basically out the window, thanks for mentioning!

#57 TF2 update for 7/14/16 (7/15/16 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion
wickedplayer494If you want to go the lazy route, grab update #2 which now fixes things for you:
Eric Smith via HLDSWe've released a fix for this. Your client should pick it up automatically.

Do you have another github link similar to the one in OP? I'd love to see what they changed.

#53 TF2 update for 7/14/16 (7/15/16 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion
La_maisonThat's interesting, mine doesn't crash and I never had to delete this file.

If I open it, I get

selected_maps_bits: 4223639358
selected_maps_bits: 1797519182
selected_maps_bits: 0

For those that have to delete it, does switching on write protection help?

Don't tell me thats upward?

#51 TF2 update for 7/14/16 (7/15/16 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion

selected_maps_bits: 4223639358
selected_maps_bits: 1797519182
selected_maps_bits: 0
(all played* 3 games from upward)

so it appears it might be tracking loaded areas* or something akin to that at the end of a map/game? Our bud who provided the file left the 3rd game midway (casual servers, not community).

selected_maps_bits: 318767360
selected_maps_bits: 167777024
selected_maps_bits: 0
(one game on harvest)

selected_maps_bits: 2151948288
selected_maps_bits: 2690566289
selected_maps_bits: 29360128
(Abandoned game of degroot keep)

selected_maps_bits: 1208027196
selected_maps_bits: 16900100
selected_maps_bits: 0
(abandoned koth_king)

No fucking clue what this is for now. Maybe its recording the previous/last game then taking that into effect on top of your elo?

Selected_maps_bits: 0 (the last line) seems to be the exact thing thats causing a crash. the github link from OP only shows repeated fixed32 selected_maps_bits = 3; that under tf_gcmessages which seems to do something

random thoughts: Its an elo/rank modifier or cleaning up how it presents values? having replaced this stuff, no clue as to the insanely high value though.

everything is irrelevant.

My casual_criteria.vdf was empty until I checked off maps I wanted to play in casual mm. Didn't even play a game, just checked them off, started/ended a search.

Oh well, fix is on the way regardless

Squidamatron provided the tidbit.
