#4 Age and TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

I'm about your age too, Buick so I think we always skewed at least a little older than average. I played regularly until my mid-twenties and at that point I was never going to put as much time into a new game as I had with TF2. The good thing about TF2 is that the core game is mostly still there without major changes. That, along with playing the easiest class in the game, got me to come back for a season at a time before I stopped altogether.

Newer games seem to have more regular and drastic changes to support a service model that make it real hard to keep up with if you're not playing constantly.

If y'all are talking HL at all you better be including Paragon. Also a beast in 6s obviously but he and Max were in a league of their own at one time.

#96 nerf pyro in TF2 General Discussion

I've generally played pyro with 60-100 ping online and can confirm that playing it at FITES lan once really hammered home how much better low ping is. Felt like I didn't need my secondaries near as much because flames actually worked. Can only imagine what it's like now.

Anyway, pyro blows now. I didn't get to try it in highlander until december but very quickly decided it wasn't for me anymore. They completely destroyed the small amount of skill and finesse you had to have with the class to the point that I don't understand how anyone who played it before could find it enjoyable now.

I don't really like the airblast changes either and I think it's going under-the-radar how bad it is simply because the flamethrowers are even worse right now. Old airblast behavior was fine, especially post tough-break. They should have just made it harder to "hit" someone with it. I even vastly preferred going up against pyros who were m2-happy with the old airblast because I had at least developed the muscle-memory to correct my aim when airblasted and do a minimal air-strafe to throw theirs off a bit. Now it's a crapshoot whether I'm going to get groundstalled, fly/slide across the map, or have nothing happen to me at all. There were some annoyances sure but nothing compared to how the class is now.

They fucked it up bad and sadly the best thing they could do would just be to revert it at this point.

#40 Pyro does way too much damage now in TF2 General Discussion

I did the email valve thing and sent them that video asking if it was the intended effect. I suggest people bombard them with emails because it really needs fixed. A good thing to point out is that you are literally punished for trying to track/lead since being anything less than perfect is less effective than flailing.

#136 2017 MLB PLAYOFFS in Off Topic

It's awesome that the last three WS winners have ended some serious droughts.

Agreed with Marxist though. If Kershaw is available for multiple innings why is he not starting? It's like every manager saw Bumgarner in 2014 and just assumed this was the correct way to do things.

#15 Why did Valve nerf Ambassador so harshly? in TF2 General Discussion
4hpidk the amby on its own always felt fair. it was more the combination with the (old) DR that made it a bit too easy to sit out of range and shoot as much as you like without getting punished for it. Since the DR got obliterated they didn't have to be so harsh on a weapon that requires considerable skill too

Pretty much this. People are vastly overstating the skill it takes to sit way behind people and take free shots at their heads. After that first blog post this summer I said they should just attach a cloak nerf to having the amby equipped. They ended up nerfing both the gun and the (DR) cloak though.

#134 update is released in TF2 General Discussion
yahootbh if the jetpack replaces shotgun and if they didnt even improved the flamethrowers hitreg, jetpack is mostly going to be used for fun and not effectiveness.

but lets see how things turn out to be. maybe there will be some other weapon to compliment it in the update.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of. Jetpack is a definite buff but not gonna be as useful as people think if the rest of pyros arsenal is still crap.
