#17 Calling EDM heads in Off Topic
shlanerQun once scolded me for calling it EDM.

http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/rave-culture-a-handy-guide-for-middle-america

Unless he calls it Electronica I don't see what else would work.
But it's fine w/e he calls it as long as he can appreciate it for what it is.

I do find it kind of funny though, "All dance/house/bass music is electronic."
Dance music is the most general term I've ever heard.
You can dance to anything.

Awesome! Not many people like hardstyle here in the states, but I follow it like a religion.

If you want to hear a decent transition, fast forward to 4:15.
DUDE I WAS A HARDSTYLE METH HEAD.

This mix is fucking sick by the way.

Get outta here, no way! If I even hear the word hardstyle here I have to double take.

I know you said "WAS" into hardstyle, but you could actually work some of the newer lighter/melodic tracks into your mixes. Some of the bigger names like Headhunterz and Wildstylez make hardstyle remixes out of popular trance and house tracks that go over better with crowds who aren't complete hardheads.
Example: https://soundcloud.com/djwildstylez/david-guetta-nicky-romero-feat
I personally prefer darker tracks, but I think tracks like that might actually be viable for you to use with your current style, maybe slowed down a bit. Let me know what you think.

I may have said was, but I still have my Bass Agents Hoodie in my closet, I have a pair of phats and I plan to buy another pair before this years EDC!
I'd never let go of my roots, if it wasn't for Hardstyle I'd still be listening to mainstream music haha.

But yea I'll definitely implement some Hard tracks into future mixes, I might even drop this at the next club I hit up haha.

DeathanchorI also like the fact you were dicking around with the phaser/flanger the whole time. I hear a lot of people got way over the top with effects during breaks in the track.

Would you care to hear something completely different that I play?

Phaser, Flanger, and Treble is all I bother to fuck with aha.

Shoot it man, I'd love to hear new sounds.

DeathanchorTechniik play levels, crowd loses their shit.

Haha not my style, but I can tell you made some good blends/cuts in it.
Maybe you could try some longer blends in there? Like a full 16 bar intro slowly mixed in.

Also appreciated the fact you sped things up a bit at the end, pushing 140.

I was using a lot of 8 bar blends with low Mids.
I did play Levels, the fucking faces, I'll never forget, honestly that made the night haha.

kuzanice!! It is nerve wracking playing in front of a crowd, gj. I'm not much of a trance/prog dj these days but I can still enjoy it.

It was exhilarating man.

flippersgood shit techniik!

#1 Calling EDM heads in Off Topic

So I made a thread a while back asking for thoughts on a mix I made.
A few of you commented and made some really good suggestions and feedback.

Whoever it was thanks, but this thread is the same as the one before.
Last night I played at Ember Night Club and it was one of the best sets of my life. I'd love an opinion from people who listen to EDM and play TF2.

It goes get choppy at times but that's only because I was a nervous wreck.
I still think I did a good job, and the crowd of 2000 had no complaints.
But yea I digress, w/e tips you may have, even song recommendations to play I'd love to hear them.

#1 S14 Open Team LF > Med & Backups in Recruitment (looking for team)

Yep our med plans to leave us because of real life things.
He's going to back up, but we need a definite starter for next season.

In terms of medic if you can maincall that'd be amazing.
Our pocket can do it, but once you get acquainted he'd like to go off your calls.

Speaking of getting acquainted our team is really really easy to get along with. Trade can be on his period at times but we still love him. You'd need to kick it in mumble to replace our half black medic. We also have a kinda HL team in mumble that's only 6's players so we all pretty much know each other on a first name basis. We're not scary I promise. Fred will annoy you though, you're obligated to call him a faggot.

As of right now

Pocket : Trademark
Roamer : Techniik
Scouts : Icy Wind/Mahaugher
Demo : Boogaloo
Medic : Maybe your pretty face

Add me, we'll try you out soon enough since our med is still around :

vilei listen to tons of edm but i'm not a dj so i'll tell you what i can.

your crossfading needs work. the transitions need to be smoother and slower. they felt forced.

don't forget to listen to a lot of mixes and podcasts. go to parties and raves (not just to party, but to actively listen to the music). don't be afraid to listen to mixes of other genres. doing these will give you tons of inspiration to be creative.

Appreciate the tip :D
If you know any good EDM DJ's feel free to drop a link on here, I'd love some new insight so to speak on ways to transition and songs to use
