#1 dealing with interleaved internet in Off Topic

I've been on Uverse since early this spring, and I've seen a huge improvement in up/downstream speeds. Unfortunately this seemed to come at the cost of significantly higher latency. Growing more and more frustrated lately with having unreasonably high ping to midwest servers, I did a bit of googling to find that the issue is due to Uverse's interleaved network. This explains the additional 30-40ms I get on average, compared to when I was on basic DSL.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/3645971152.png

I ping 40ms to a server not 10 miles away.
Usually get ~70ms to Chicago servers and I'm lucky to drop under 110 on west coast ones.

Unfortunately I'm not the one paying for the service so I have no say in switching providers again. How can I minimize this effect, or am I just boned?

#3 gamepads in Hardware

A couple people have suggested I get the XB1 controller, and while I really like the d-pad, I'm not sure if it'll be worth the extra 20 dollars. Still looking for more recommendations.

#1 gamepads in Hardware

I'm looking to replace my ratty 360 controller this weekend. At first thought about just buying another 1st party 360 controller, but I'd rather try out an alternative and thought I'd ask around first before I make a silly purchase. Anything I should look out for/avoid? Anything that works decent/would last awhile currently on sale?

Love this game, fun objectives/maps and pretty good class variety. Still a bit buggy but definitely worth checking out.

#1 mobile IRC app? in Off Topic

Recently I've been experimenting with streaming but I've run into a minor problem where I don't really have the screen space for both my game and my IRC chat. I leave the window half-hanging off the side of my desktop, alt tabbing occasionally to drag the window into full view to read most messages. Unfortunately, a second monitor or machine is not currently a viable solution for me. All I've got is an android phone, so I have to wonder if anyone knows of any decent IRC client apps available on the Play store? I've already tried SimpleIrc but it seems to have trouble connecting to anything, not sure why.

#859 MAJOR TF2 update for 6/18/14 (6/19/14, Love & War) in TF2 General Discussion

even though I disagree that the nerf is a bad thing, these arguments are totally valid. the problem is that said arguments seem to revolve around the idea that Valve cares about what the competitive scene thinks about their balancing decisions.

Valve doesn't give a fuck. sorry.
