#161 ESEA PROMOTION in TF2 General Discussion
JonesyMcFlyI've been discussing this with my team (who is really new to the game, all told) and one thing that we're worried about is that we're just paying to play in a league where we just get our shit stomped in by much better teams. It's not that we're afraid of facing better teams, because we do want a challenge, but I for one don't want to drop $30 to get 5-0ed twice a week by invite players offclassing. We want to step up and challenge ourselves, but we've been told in the past by open players that there's such a significant divide in skill in the league that we'd get more matches that we can actually learn from just staying in UGC.
I guess what I want to know is if there's been a large change in this, if there is an actual chance that a less experienced team can have quality matches, or if it's just going to be a complete waste of our time and money.

With esea, there was a few teams this season with invite players offclassing. There will probably be 1 or 2 this season as well, but with cevo, there's going to be a lot more IM and Main level teams in your division that you would have to worry about. You would probably have more of a chance to play against higher level players or more experieneced players and get 5-0d in cevo than in esea.

#114 ESEA's possible demise? in TF2 General Discussion

If esea dies high level competition will die with it. I see people saying stuff about only mixup saying they will stop playing or whatever, but it's more than that. Even if teams don't quit they sure as shit won't be trying as hard as they would in esea. I for sure know that without the incentive to go to lan and compete with the best then I won't be giving my all, which will eventually lead to me stopping playing this game far sooner than I would like.

Yeah there's the possibility that cevo could get a lan or something in a few seasons but what's to happen in the 3 seasons prior to that? People aren't going to keep competing at the top level for a few seasons in hope that they might get a lan in a few seasons. Without there being a top level and a lan to strive towards the foundation will crumble.

I think it was a big mistake having cevo do 2 matches per week. Teams need to play in both leagues for now, and that is out of the question for many with cevo having 2 matches a week; 1 is more reasonable for that.

#75 ESEA Season 16 in News
NosferatuAre invite/main moves finalized? it doesn't look like all of those rosters will be used and what about rent-a-homies/street hoops?

They haven't done anything with invite yet, but we are there.

#53 ESEA Season 16 in News

play both, then if/when cevo takes off and is the clear better option then side with that. That isn't the case right now. A split community is just going to kill this game competitively.

chiveSo does this mean Street Hoops won't be playing in ESEA next season? Or is it only their highlander team that is dead.

We're playing esea next season, just not highlander.

#9 How can I improve myself competitively? in Mentoring

I usually run the pretty boys pocket pistol unless the enemy pyro is ridiculous; the extra health is so good. Before you go into any fight get your medic to give you a full buff, and try to only choose fights that you can win (they wasted all their ammo, or you have health/positional advantage). Just focus on pushing the cart on, that's your most important job on payload; more advanced stuff such as ubering into them will come at higher levels. Don't suicide into the cart unless it's right at the end and you want to keep it from moving back, but a dead ringer spy can do that easier. But yeah, get healed a lot, listen to your teams damage calls and work off of that; value your life.

#8 60hz vs 120hz in TF2 General Discussion

it makes the game more smooth and a lot easier to see whats happening. also, you should probably have at least 120 fps to fully utilize the 120 hz.
