#1 [Build] Cheap Non Gaming Desktop in Hardware

So I need to make a desktop NOT for gaming.

I'm looking for 16gb RAM and a decent processor.

Graphics card doesn't need to be too powerful.

Its more a work desktop than a gaming one, multiple virtual machines will be running at a time.

So any suggestions? OS needs to be bought (win7 professional) but no accessories (monitor, keyboard, etc)

600-800 Budget, lower the better

(sorry for all of the computer build spam)

Has this devolved into linking pokemon combinations that thousands of kids have already done before?

#11 Good Mic? in Hardware

So zalman and modmic are the only good choices? Are there any other ones worth considering?

#3 Good Mic? in Hardware
ckapModMic is great, I've heard. Don't know if it falls under your budget.

Seems interesting, but too expensive.

And really wierd how they have a fancy website only to have 2 products for sale

#1 Good Mic? in Hardware

I need a mic to replace my shitty headset mic. I heard the zalman is good, but are there unidirectional mics that have good quality but just as cheap?

Also, any other mics that are good but still under 15-20 dollars?

#16 Azio Levetron Clicker Mechanical Keyboard? in Hardware
smakersWaldosmakersALPs switches are just as good as Cherry MX. Blackwidow keyboards are not good.Blackwidow keyboards are overpriced, not necessarily bad. While there are better alternatives, it's still a fully functional mechanical keyboard, the legacy drivers are actually quite nice.
Go use one for a year, watch the keycaps degrade to the point that the backlighting shines through the entire keycap, effectively eliminating the ability to read the lettering, and then tell me they're not bad. They have a host of problems that any $100+ mechanical keyboard should not have. The spacebar is just weird, too.

I will agree that ALPs, Topres, and buckling springs are better, but that's just opinion really.

I agree, razer uses its "gamer" brand name to make kids overpay for a backlit keyboard with barely any customization and average build quality.

They don't even have cherry mx reds

#15 Azio Levetron Clicker Mechanical Keyboard? in Hardware
OK_RickI used this keyboard before I got the CM Quickfire Rapid for around $40 on sale. It was a really nice keyboard. The rubber WASD is kinda gimmicky, but doesn't make much of a difference. I love'd they way the keys felt. Super clicky and very loud (that might be a con for some people). The only problem I had with it, is that it didn't work at all with either OSX or linux. I emailed Azio and they replied saying they were working on a driver, but I don't think anything has come out yet.

It's an awesome keyboard for an awesome price, I would recommend it.

Where did u get a qfr for 40?

#9 Custom Health Bar Image in Customization
QuartzBenroadsYou might be able to use broesels method of adding vtf files to your materials/vgui/replay/thumbnails folder. I'm not entirely sure of how this works but I do know he was able to make a transparent healthcross doing this.
Problem is there is no way to replace the health cross image with another file besides replacing the one already used, which implies that it won't work on sv_pure servers :/

It works on pure, but no one knows for how long. Its worked for a while now though.

Learn the apple equivalents

I have never owned a apple product nor have friends who use them, and I know (hopefully) that the terminal is used in around the same manner
