#15 comcast in TF2 General Discussion

It might be due to increased summer traffic.

I wish I still had Comcast though--when I was living in Nashville it was always fast and I never had any problems. Now I'm in Kansas and Cox is awful...I'm paying for the non-shit tier and I still can't even watch streams a lot of the time. :(

#58 ESEA in TF2 General Discussion

Bolwind, as soon as you're willing to set up a league with a substantial prize pool, multiple LANs each year with computers provided by sponsors (willing to do it without ads because apparently ads in STV are a big deal to you), paid admins, an anti-cheat client, and a website with functionality on par with ESEA's, and have everything running perfectly all the time, please let us know and I'm sure people would be willing to look into switching over from ESEA.

#36 cool summer strats in Off Topic

Do you guys not have air conditioners? Even when it's not that hot outside I'd rather just keep my AC on to avoid the humidity. It's worth the extra cost to be comfortable.

Also use ceiling/desk/box fans to circulate air, and keep doors open within your house if possible. If you don't have a ceiling fan, you can get one for like $50 and install it yourself--it's worth it. Relocate your computer to a bigger room if necessary.

#13 Faking Brain Tumor to Scam Hats... Pathetic in Off Topic

Unfortunately, people scam/shark for items all the time. There are even websites to help people rip off new players who have valuable items. Things like this aren't even surprising.

#12 Is ratemyprofessors.com reliable? in Off Topic

As long as you realize that some of the negative comments are from dumbasses who just weren't willing to put in any effort for the class, it can be useful. A majority of the comments I read turned out to be fair and accurate though, and sometimes people give useful advice pertaining to the professor's grading style and course structure.

#11 Improving a scout in Q/A Help

Give him specific criticism, e.g. "we want you to play around our medic more in this situation." Also, focus on how to improve as a team rather than just a single player. Some of the faults in his play might actually be team problems, for example is he getting support, are people calling damage/focuses, is your combo calling their positioning/when they push/uber (dis)advantages, etc.

#4 How often do you update your hardware? in Hardware

I built my first computer a little over 4 years ago, and it still works great and is sufficient to run most games, so I gave it to my brothers. I built a new computer 8 months ago mostly because I had extra money and wanted prettier graphics on some games. I'll probably keep this one for another 2-3 years.

#9 alan wake series name your price in Off Topic
tornados2111Dude, don't be a complete dick and just pay the absolute minimum possible. You can even make your money go to charity so add a bit more...

If the people who ran the bundle had a problem with people paying $1, they'd make the minimum higher. I don't feel bad about paying $1 for indie bundles because 1. I'm only slightly interested in the games and wouldn't be interested in them at all at a higher price. 2. I already own one or more games in most bundles. 3. I already make charitable contributions to organizations of my own choosing. There's no need to be condescending to people who choose to pay the allowed minimum.

Anyway, Allen Wake was pretty good and I felt it was worth the $7(?) I paid in the last summer sale.

#14 main calling in TF2 General Discussion

You could also argue it might be easier for a medic to main call because they don't have to focus on DMing and can look around freely. Anyway, the pocket sees things the medic doesn't see, and the med sees things the pocket doesn't see, such as overall positioning and health. It doesn't matter who is main calling as long as all those things are being communicated. Main calling doesn't mean you're the only person on the team who should be talking, or even the only person who can make calls.

#58 Is algerbra a waste of time in school in Off Topic
UltrazAny computer science/engineer majors here do you apply math or had to take a math course at collage? I know you need a basic understanding algebra for variables but what about calculus?

lol you need a lot of math for computer science. My CS major friends had to take 3-4 semesters of calculus, and linear algebra, stats, and differential equations. Plus all the math involved in normal CS classes.

#10 Weapon specific viewmodel_fov? in Q/A Help
JasonThese guys seem to be giving you the wrong instructions.

No, all the suggestions above except for yours are valid options. This

bind "p" "viewmodel_fov 90; viewmodel_fov 70;"

would make his viewmodel fov always 70. Even if he used a working version of what you suggested, he would have to switch the fov manually each time, which is pointless when you can use broesel's crosshair switcher, tf2mate, or do it yourself to bind the viewmodel fov to the buttons you use to switch weapons.

#1 Medic lft Open/IM in Recruitment (looking for team)

I haven't really played in a while, but I joined Big Boys a few days ago, and the team just died. :( I'd be willing to play this season if I can find a decent high Open or low IM team. IM fees already paid.
