Hi!
I recently changed my router from a D-Link WBR to a D-Link N900 because the old router couldn't provide wi-fi throughout the entire house. However, it times out. A lot.
However, it only times out on my computer. The actual network stays up no problem but I lose connection to it. This happens kinda rarely unless I'm watching a stream where it'll time out every 10 minutes or so. Happens with downloads as well. My connection stops working for 5-6 minutes and works fine again but during that downtime, I can stil browse the internet except half the stuff won't load fully.
If it happens while I'm playing DotA 2 for example, I get disconnected, wait for Steam to come back up and I can reconnect to the game fine but the moment I join, I disconnect instantly again and need to wait about 4-5 minutes for it to fully recover.
I'm not wired and that is not a possibility either but I did get to test it and I never dropped. I'm using a USB adapter which I'll assume is the cause of my problems but I'm wondering if there is a way to fix this. Been thinking of possibly buying a network card as a last resort but only if it's necessary.
Thanks in advance.
