Hello all!
I had an idea for a mod to be put into TF2 pub servers. It's a HL public mod where any one can play! Basically what will happen is you will join the server and be prompt to a source mod menu that asks what class you prefer to play as, you will have 3 classes to chose from e.g Scout, Soldier and Sniper are the 3 class you chose to play as in the game. So once everyone has chosen there classes, you are randomly put into a team as one of your selected classes and so is everyone else. You will play the game for 1 game, who ever wins stop watch or the win limit wins. Once the game is over, new players are added to the team and some are taken out to let other people play. The server will hold 32 plays, 9 on each team and spectators who wait to play and can watch other players to see how they play or to just learn off of them, the specs have there class selected as they join the server of course and if someone from either team leaves unexpectedly on spec at random will be placed into the player who left slot (providing they picked that class at the start). Map rotations after every 3- 4 games or 1 hour map limit (maps consist of what the server providers want).
Again it will be an open public server that anyone, new or old can play, sure maybe at some times you get the odd player that has no clue at all but that's all about learning the game and learning competitive or just play tf2center.
I think this would be a fun idea to have and i know we already have a website similar to my idea but having a server where don't have to wait as long to get the class slot you want to play and it'll be a friendly communal place where anyone can play competitive and just learn off it!
I no nothing about source mod or how in anyway i can make this happen with a few tweaks here and there but if anyone at all looks at this and takes my idea to put in motion you have every right to as it's only a little idea :)

Well, the same principal already exists through the IRC HL PUG channel. You basically do the same thing, but instead of being able to spectate the match, you sit and wait for one. Or do something else.
I think this would be too much work for less gain as it needs development, bug fixing, etc. when something like it already exists. It was a good idea though.

Fair enough mate, i'd completely forgotten about them! And yeah a lot of bug fixes and A LOT of would would have to go into it, i don't really expect anyone to take up my idea but an idea is an idea after all aha

I would love to see this implemented as a plugin on HLMIX servers, on countries that do not use IRC. You choose the classes you can play and the leaders browse through the list and pick. If no one picked medic, it randomly chooses one spectator to med. With the right admins/players, this would be glorious.
