I've been having an issue with my mouse in most of my games. My wired USB mouse has been disconnecting and reconnecting, causing my FPS to drop and the mouse to be unresponsive during this time. Windows does in fact play the disconnecting notification noise during this and it eventually comes back after several seconds.
I really would like to know ways of fixing this. Here's a list of things that I've tried:
Device Manager > USB Root Hub > Power Management thing
Device Manager > Uninstall mouse driver > reboot PC
Update Drivers for mouse > increased game speed, but not reliability of mouse
Tried on another PC > worked
I really don't know what tech info you'd need, but it's a Mionix Naos 3200 and my laptop that I'm using it on is pretty old anyway.
Edit: This seems to also frequently after moving the mouse very quickly across the mouse pad

Your mouse cord is probably damaged. This happens to almost every g400 after a year

The wire inside the cord is probably frayed, most likely at the point where the cord connects to the mouse. Happens to a lot of mice.

So I'm assuming there isn't anything I can do about this, and that I have to go and buy a new mouse?

If its a logitech mouse you can contact them and explain your issue. I did this a couple years back and got a new mouse for free. Didnt even have to send in my old broken one.

You can fix it yourself if you're not scared of a soldering iron. Or if its under warranty you can send it back for a replacement.
Logitech are notorious for this problem although they are very good with replacing broken mice. I used to go through a new Logitech mouse each 6-12 months but I just got bored/annoyed at sending em back all the time and bought a Zowie about a year ago. The cord seems much stronger and I've not had an issue so far.

It's not a Logitech.
You probably have to buy a new mouse.
