I used steam to make a backup of TF2 from my laptop, and put it on my external hard drive. When I try to restore it on my desktop, steam just puts a ~2.8gb file then begins dling the rest. I have no idea what the issue is. I've redone the process several times. I have a dl speed .5 and it stops constantly, so it would take me 24 hours or more to re-download tf2. Help please.
This issue started earlier when I backed up then uninstalled TF2 from my desktop (I was moving it to my main hard drive because my ssd didn't have enough space to upgrade to steampipe.

Did you use the "Backup and Restore Games" function of Steam? It is pretty horrible and Steam just ends up not using your backup anyway in favor of downloading it off the internet. It's easier to copy the steamapps folder (or at least the TF2 part of it) from machine to machine and have Steam rediscover all the games in my opinion.
