novic[e].kwm: what made you decide to do this?
rawbi[n].kwm :3: I was browsing steam community
rawbi[n].kwm :3: looking at items
rawbi[n].kwm :3: and then I landed on this page
rawbi[n].kwm :3: http://steamcommunity.com/app/440
rawbi[n].kwm :3: and someone was asking about how to get better
rawbi[n].kwm :3: so I simply replied "teamfortress.tv" or something
rawbi[n].kwm :3: and when I scrolled down
rawbi[n].kwm :3: I saw more people asking about it
rawbi[n].kwm :3: so I decided to just make a thread
novic[e].kwm: ic
rawbi[n].kwm :3: who knows.
The thread is here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/440/discussions/0/882961070570075737/
As long as this thread stays active, it will be on the top and front of this page:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/440
(this also goes for videos, so if you see eXtine's vids or any comp related vids, giving them comments and positive ratings will help boost it up)
More importantly though... I realised when I was typing that, that it's really hard to get a new player into competitive. Even if I toss them to the forums, it's pretty intimidating and there aren't a lot of threads explaining what competitive is, or helping new players. I know Sigma's article helps, but I wouldn't want to make them fish for it.
Enigma, is there any way to get a "New to Comp" tab at the top? Something that can hold a pubber's hands and take them step by step through competitive, from lobbies, to newbie-mixes, to helpful videos... just anything to help them understand the game? How I see it, is it's really intimidating and hard to get into competitive without a mentor. If we had a lengthy guide that would suffice instead of a mentor, the scene could expand itself with a lot less work from us.
As for anyone else, 'bumping' threads aren't allowed but if you guys want to post a little something in there to keep it on the front page, that would be awesome.
Thoughts on a newbie section? And maybe what should be included?

There are a lot of guides to getting into comp, you just need to look around. If they were all under one section, it would be a lot easier to just link people to teamfortress.tv, or teamfortress.tv/newtocomp or something, and have everything right there.
