You can play roamer well either way, but like craig said above, most of the time you're doing "roaming play" will involve dying before your shotgun is a factor. That being said, bombing with the shotgun can be incredibly good since you don't need to have 3 rockets loaded to guarantee a medic kill.

If they really need you to play they will have no qualms about coordinating their entire team to guilt trip you over steam for a few hours even after you've gone offline to dodge them
