#306 ESEA's possible demise? in TF2 General Discussion
OrdoozigzterCould it survive if they dropped Main and went back to the 3 div setup?Probably not, there aren't enough Open teams, unless IM teams are going to go play in Open, chances are dropping Main won't solve the issue.

CS 1.6 is still alive with only 22 teams...but only open.

#14 CEVO Whitelist Poll in TF2 General Discussion
QuindaliJust a note-- some people have been telling me they get an error when they first click the link. If you have this problem but you know you should be able to vote just log out and log back in and it'll work! Sorry for any inconvenience

You can also try refreshing the page. That's worked for me every time CEVO gave me that message error.

milehighmilitiaIve never been satisfied with ESEA as a product and have thought that leaving ESEA was in the best interest of TF2 competitive for a pretty long time, even barring the "bitcoin scandal". I actually played tf2 in cevo and esea at the same time at one point, and the only upshot ESEA ever had on CEVO is that they had a monopoly on the competition, if you wanted to play at higher levels you went to esea. Following up on that, every other advantage that ESEA had (stats, stv demos, etc) has now been integrated into CEVO, and much of the competition is playing in CEVO as well now. Furthermore, ESEA has developed 0 new features relevant to TF2 competitive in recent years leaving them stale and in a position quite easily matched by cevo, leaving them vulnerable to this move in the first place. We havent had healing stats for how many seasons? They obviously dont invest any time into even simple things that this community wants, so why assume that they ever will change and be the league we all wished they would be? Its not going to happen. With CEVO we have a chance to make something for the community, by the community, a league that we can mold to something better, without the bureaucracy and lpkane of ESEA to stand in our way.

People down fragging this post have not read its contents.

Edit:

marmadukeGRYLLSyeah two leagues is a pretty big time commitment. however, how are people gonna feel when esea upgrades their stat system, and then cevo starts asking for more money (than they are now, and than esea is now) because a)nihanni isnt chipping in a few thousand and b) there's a lan they have to fund.

We would have to re-evaluate our options, but if ESEA TF2 dies we would really have limited options.

While I agree there should be participation in both, some teams just don't have the time to do both.

My CEVO team consists of three college students working towards different science degrees along with a player whose availability is dictated by his work schedule and two high school students. We simply could not do both, and I think this goes for other teams as well, not just ours. With the least expensive and flat fee, and the huge improvement of stats over ESEA's, my team decided to do CEVO.

synchroAJSo my team was lucky enough to play the first cevo match with stats..
http://cevo.com/event/tf2-6v6/match/17748/

Do they update during the game?

Also, having the columns be sortable would be nice.

It was broken when we played, but should be fixed for tonight's matches.

AJ-Ingame .ss does not function properlyCEVO|Stevens1) Cleaning this up today, will be functional/correct by the time all of the matches happen tonight

And sorting is being added sometime today as well.

There are a few bugs with CEVO atm, but they aren't too bad atm and the season looks like its gonna be good. Heres my list of cevo suggestions: http://cevo.com/forums/topic/6009/team-fortress-2/s4-suggestions-site-server/

Edit: Also what about configs/whitelist/rules? I haven't seen any news on this..

#91 ESEA Map Vote in TF2 General Discussion

Please stop voting for warmerfront. The map maker, Kaptan_kul, even says its not ready to be played as a regular season map. Trust me, its not. At least not this season.

Kaptan_kulI know benroads that I am a disappointment to mapmakers everywhere. my only hope is eventually evolving into a better map maker like deer man or scorpion man.

I have internally fixed all these texture issues.

Yeah, play ability wise it looks fine(keep in mind i haven't played it yet).

but from what I've seen its needs to be improved aesthetically. Its on the right track though.

LangeWe reached out to ESEA to attempt to coordinate our map lists, but they were uncooperative. As a result, we will be sticking with our current map list barring any unforeseen events.

I'm not surprised tbh...CEVO is taking away some of their business.

If you really wanted to copy their map list you'd have to wait til the very end of preseason at least.

LangeOn the issue of number of matches per week, the poll was inconclusive. The end numbers were extremely close, so we've made a judgement call. We believe that one match a week is not a good value for the $15 entry fee we are asking. As such, we have decided that this season will have two matches per week. I realize that this is not what everyone wanted, but with a poll split nearly 50/50 we had to make a call, and I think that this will encourage more serious competitive play in CEVO in the long run.

Thanks Lange. <3
Does this include preseason? Edit: Spoiler: It doesn't.

Edit: FYI coalplant was voted out of the ESEA map list
Edit 2: and cp_sunshine was voted in.

Now that my team is readied up and have our first preseason match in the next week, what do the stream and code buttons do on the match page?

Theres really no documentation on what these do...
