fps games arent anywhere near as interesting to watch compared to games that involve more thinking than skill, hence why chess usually has more viewers than tf2 on twitch
This is an unfair comparison. Chess has been around since the middle ages, and has a much wider audience. Old men generally aren't interested in video games, while chess appeals to all ages.
However, I do believe that fps games could compete with mobas (or whatever they're called) if they had the resources those games do.

I used to pub on The Furry Pound servers with m0lk, Duey, and Tagg. I liked playing scout so I asked m0lk who the best scouts were. He gave me some names and I watched some demos and such before finally deciding to join a team. I sucked shit ever since until last November when I became a LAN CHAMPION by watching disengage hit sick middies and crumpet dropping ubers while waiting for my respawn timer
