I liked that they thought about competitive play, but honestly, I don't see what could have taken this long in this update. There weren't as many weapons re-works as I thought there would be, and while the pyro stuff is cool, this seems more like an update that should have been released 3 months after conception, not 15. Also, the lack of competitive changes doesn't make any sense. Why balance around competitive play if the gamemode itself is flawed? Unless they're releasing a competitive update soon after this, this doesn't add up to me. i hate to sound like I'm hating on Valve because it's easy to, this update just seems to be odd in its focus. They updated mannpower more than competitive, and focused more on the casual ranking system more than competitive. For an update which appears designed to support the comp scene, this seems odd.

Maybe they change the flame thrower to a more similar one to irl. That's to say a projectile with aoe. Like you can launch the flames in a "beam" and then it like pours downhill and ignites whatever it touches. It would make it a much more valuable class because of area denial.
