Leagues take a lot of work to run and honestly give you little in return. In the case of ESEA, they have a system set up where their return is money, so the effort is worth it.
Mind you, if you love the community and enjoy contributing to it, it's good fun. But just don't expect anything in return for what is really a hobby. In reality, you will end up investing far more into the community (in both time and money) than you will ever hope to get back.
The trick is going in with that mindset. Then you can have fun doing what you love.
(if you didn't know I'm the league director at ozfortress.)
I just got some 1964 v3s. Very nice, comfortable fit, obviously much cheaper than most. You will probably be happy with using them for music listening, but once you start talking, the low end of your voice feeds back through your jawbone and it feels a bit weird. I can use them for single player games (really immersive) but multiplayer is not really practical.
Your stock standard IEM will be your three driver without a bass boost. Where I mix, we have to do a 3db shelf on the low end to compensate for people with 1964QIs, UE18s, ect., even bassists need it because it's just too overpowering.
For higher end, UE are kind of irrelevant now that JH Audio are around because they occupy the same price range and JH has Jerry Harvey. Consider JH-10s if you can pay out for the price, otherwise something like 1964v3s will be great.
Also remember that you're going to have to spend probably at least 400-600 dollars to get a transmitter and a pack, unless most of the venues that you play at already have IEM packs. You can get wired packs which will be significantly cheaper, but come with the obvious drawback of being tethered.
AlkalineAre there any other top level AUS teams that might go? It would be kinda sad to see the number of continents represented at i55 go down :/
There is a huge gap between iM and the next best team.
hooliwould someone go through the trouble of acquiring your esea account? what are they going to do, pay your league fees? change your name to something embarrassing? not trying to illegitimate the issue but no one is going to bother doing a mitm attack for something as fruitless as an esea account. you have nothing to worry about. just change your password.
What's scary is the fact that ESEA has absolutely no regard for security at all. It also suggests that if someone was going to gain compromise of ESEA they'd have your passwords in plaintext. Also almost everyone with interesting accounts gathers in the same hotel for a weekend a couple of times a year...
For just running a proxy, it couldn't be simpler on a vps, ssh has a socks proxy built in. You probably won't have to do anything on the vps itself, just run putty on your own PC.
First of all, why the heck do you need a vpn.
Are you paying for any of these? You likely will need to for any good quality of service.
Why is it that it's always the australians coming in giving advice to ignore the haters and put on thick skin.
Actually I know exactly why.
Ya it works well on ozfortress no reason it shouldn't work here.
It's ok to create the folder yourself. You should probably use the custom folder system though.
It's been five years though so who knows if it will work.
SideshowSmithsonianOzfort rules are pretty good about this:
"A mercenary can be used without the permission of the other team if they are a member of a team currently active in the same division or below. If the proposed mercenary is not a member of any team participating in owl 12 the opposing team’s captain and your division administrator must agree to allow them to play."
Imo all leagues should use this rule, it works really well.
What happens to really good players who are playing in lower divisions for a season? The example off the top of my head is schocky now, playing in Mid. If I couldn't get a scout in and this rule was in place (or even a rule only allowing mercs by default from lower divisions), then I could get schocky as a merc which would be a huge upgrade in fact. Does the rule have a clause about that?
We have conditional allowances. Essentially, you can be allowed to play in a lower division with a less experienced team based on terms negotiated with the admins, usually a class restriction.
It's honestly a pretty bad rule to have to deal with, I wouldn't recommend it, but it does help solve some seeding issues when it comes to teams with offclassers.
imo admins should always have the ability to override a denial for cases when it's obvious that they are trying to play the rules into getting an ffw or 6v5.
Get a PSU from a well known brand. Its a huge risk to get an off brand psu
Phunknumlockedguys i found it but i dont think ill get one http://www.costumediscounters.com/mens-costumes/new-halloween-costumes/adult-shark-mascot-costume-37415US.html?
there must be some way to get a stripped one without the included cooling fan, its an unnecessary option, I can deal with discomfort
Trust me, I've been inside mascot costumes and you want that cooling fan. Might not be so bad in deep winter I guess.
