#17 144hz 24" Asus Monitor in Hardware
eliArie(in lightboost hack-mode) makes it amazing for games.
I just tried this with my vg248qe and noticed a pretty noticeable drop in refresh rate(as expected) because it only enables the strobe mod in 120hz. Despite it looking much more smooth I think I'm going to go back to the generic 144hz default. I wish the mod was capable of running the strobe mod from 144hz -> 144hz(strobed). Not currently available as far as I know :(

It really is only a great benefit for people with monitors capped at 120hz. The mod definitely makes it respond like a CRT would on 120hz but idk I like 144hz refresh rate better.

Hopefully a 144hz to 144hz(strobed) comes out in the near future.

I'll take 120Hz strobed over 144Hz standard any day. There's something magical about moving a window with text and still being able to read the contents perfectly well without any blur :)
Are you sure you're not running into any weird problems? To me the difference between 120Hz<->144Hz wasn't visible regarding refresh rate.

Dave_Do you mean gsync or lightboost? I thought this came out before gsync was announced...

Good monitor though, just beware of washed out colors (might need a calibration)

Colors are trash, even worse in lightboost mode. Colors change depending on refresh rate too :(
But low input lag and 0 motion blur (in lightboost hack-mode) makes it amazing for games.

  • Added maps for ETF2L's Experimental Highlander Cup #5
  • Added maps for UGC 4v4 S2
  • "I'm feeling lucky" button. 1 click to make a reservation for the next 2 hours based on your previous one. If your previous server is in use, it will try a server on the same host/ip, if those are all in use, it tries to make a server in the same country (Sorry NA for now), if those are all full it uses the first available server it can find.

#28 serveme.tf - free server reservations in Projects

na.serveme.tf will be down tonight from 12:01AM EDT, May 16, 2014 for emergency maintenance to the server that hosts my little VPS. Estimated downtime is 3 hours.
Reservations started before 12:01AM should function normally, apart from the in-game chat commands (e.g. !end !extend !rcon)

#4 Headphones or Headset? in Hardware

There are good headphones at any budget. Good gaming headsets not so much.

Adding a modmic to decent headphones saves a ton of money vs buying a Beyerdynamic MMX300 or Sennheiser PC350+

#27 Evaluating good play from stats/logs in TF2 General Discussion
LKincheloeWhat would be great is real-time stats during the match, and afterward being able to go back and look at a certain period of time in a match. I think it'd enable some interesting stats like who is initiating contact first (to Jon's point in #23 about DPM), average heals (how well is a medic triaging injured teammates), just to name a couple.

I already built a system that collects the data for these kind of stats from live matches. It's just used for live damage/kills stats in streams right now, you can see an example here. The "top damage this round" and "top kills this round" are collected live from the gameserver and delayed by 90 seconds to sync up with SourceTV.
That same system already collects all kinds of other data you can get from TF2 log lines, just never gotten around to write something cool for those.

#19 Evaluating good play from stats/logs in TF2 General Discussion
LangeIn my ideal world, pugs, scrims, and matches across all leagues would use a single platform with a single API. To me, it looks like Logs.tf is the best platform for that right now, but we need to have a serious discussion to really determine what the best path is going forward.

Logs.tf has a good API. Both for uploading logfiles and reading the stats.
It uses TFTrue or F2's sourcemod plugins on the server side to add the extra information to the logs and upload the logs to logs.tf.
