#1 Quake in Other Games

Not sure if anyone in the TF2 community is an active Quake player, although I'm sure a few of you play Clan Arena, but I'm looking for some more people to duel/TDM with. Recently there's been a huge dearth of players in duels in any of the huge amount of arena shooters with split populations. I'd also be willing to help people new to duel traverse the tremendous skill curve if they so desire.

I figure if anyone adds me it's going to be for Quake Live but I also play CPM, QuakeWorld, & Warsow.

I started Quake in 09 as a way to warm-up/improve in TF2 and fell in love with duel. When I stopped TF2 with the conclusion of S10 I dueled exclusively in arena shooters until a few months ago when Kohaku needed a pocket for his team. It's the only game series and sub-genre of games I've played that has a near unlimited skill ceiling and can be played a number of different ways depending on an individuals play-style.

Anyways, add me on steam for a game or ask a question if you have one, I'll try to give a moderate response.

#143 ESEA S15 NA IM Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

Hello friends, Team Fortress Two player/aspiring e-sports news anchor Bolwind here to bring you all the latest action from the front lines of E-SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT'S (delayed) SEASON FIFTEEN OF TEAM FORTRESS TWO. I'm going to hone in on Intermediate in this writeup because I'm in that division.*

*Let me be clear that this is not in any way a ranking article and do NOT take it as such.

First off let me say this, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't completely absorbed with the current state of the Team Fortress Two metagame. With new and exciting developments arisen from the buffs Valve applied to the quickfix, sandman, powerjack, & the sandvich, I think we're at an advent of a game-shifting class re-balance in TF2. I don't think I'm overstating how vital pyro, heavy, engineer, and medic are going to be this season.
Edit: nvm those r banned lol

Onto the teams... (The remaining 8 teams conductor didn't discuss because he holds personal grudges...)...

She Spilled My Coffee:
Just like you always go in on the hottest babe in a bar filled with crusty wretches, you always start with the best team first. With big plays coming from star players like Fog, Monkeysuit, & kace, be on the lookout for all kinds of next level ball-dropping. 'She Spilled My Coffee' is a team I scrim regularly, and I can attest to the skill levels of every person on that team. I'd wager a high stack of paper that these guys will be the first ones to secure a playoff spot, due in part to their highly technical and advanced plays sprung into motion by their highly advanced unit coordination. These kids are as well-conducted as an orchestra

#36 Warsow greenlit in Other Games

From what I remember in CPMA you needed to start off with a good circle-strafe into either normal QW bhoping or switching to drift-style CPM hoping for faster acceleration (600-650 units I think vs max of 500 with normal hopping). In WSW I remember only having to either start out with one of the walljumps and then continue hopping for speed or having to just use VQL style strafing to max out pretty quickly. Haven't played it in a few months though.

It's pretty much identical to CPMA minus the netcode which is slightly 'off', same item timings and mega timings but actually has a timer (cpma doesn't). Damage numbers are reduced and its on the Quake2 engine. The added bonus is walljumping which involves a separate button which allows you to bounce off a wall (think UT2k4 double tapping off walls). Same weapons as all the quake games, nothing new there. Those are probably the major differences, the movement is also easy as piss so holding a strafe is simple, pretty sure there's an auto-hop enable checkbox somewhere as well. I still prefer Quake but there was a small subset who enjoyed the movement a lot and continued with it, other than that gameplay matches CPMA with weird maps and more forgiving gameplay.

#32 Warsow greenlit in Other Games

Would be a fun game to duel in but the walljumping gimmick really kills the game when you play the people who know how to abuse it, i.e. you can continue to gain momentum as you time jumps from side to side on any surface, making hitting them with anything but a well timed rocket a nightmare. Also most of the maps are very vertically oriented, making for lots and lots of rail advantages. Other than that it's just a reduced-damage CPMA clone with pig models. If people played more 2on2/4on4 it'd probably be more fun, but even when I played with a decent scene there were only ever a handful of NA duelers and the only other active servers being Clan Arena on one map all the time.

#6 trans-autistic railroad needs backup player in Recruitment (looking for team)

As someone entrapped to play pocket on this team I feel obligated to let you know the horrors that await. I'm just kidding. Other than having to deal with obvious weeabooism, constant passive racism and back-talk, sexual & asexual deviantism (lolicons, furries), continual meme spouting (reddit variety, not even good memes from ebaums world LEL xD), and constant self-hatred.

In addition to the downsides, I'll collect a brief list of upsides you can look forward to if you're interesting in joining the team.

The upsides of backing up for this team include:

- Access to all kinds/skills of Counter-strike Global Offensive Matchmaking lobbies
- Use of up to 35 different skins across aforementioned Counter-Strike games
- Daily practice & opportunities to play! (Counter-Strike)
- Up to date market fluctuations and ways to take advantage of it (CS:GO)
- Pre-game and post-game spot naming and map review activities (Counter-Strike)
- Scrims between 6PM - 9PM OR 11PM - 3AM EST (CS:GO)
- Ads removed from our public Mumble channel!* (Seats up to 15)
- Links posted daily to the most graphic/enjoyable photographs from the ?? internet
- On-site psychiatrist to help with emotional issues (Provided by myself)
- TF2 Scrims 9-11

Thanks for reading!
Don't add me, I don't want to talk to you.

#44 Looking for team in Recruitment (looking for team)

At first I was very apprehensive about posting in a toaster looking thread, as he's burned me many a time before, but I decided that not talking about it would only make it worse.

Thing is, Toaster did something very emotionally painful and disturbing to me.

I'll try and keep my story as accurate and unbiased as possible, but it's very hard to keep myself from screaming through these tears that wet my face whenever I see the dreaded RaCeCaR message flashing in my IRC client. Just the mere sight of his vowel-less name joining a server triggers the flashbacks.

I'll back up to last night.

A few good friends of mine were gearing up for a night on the virtual town; Inventories stuffed with hats and various unlocks we'd crafted while pre-gaming. We decided that it was time to find a skirmish, one of those silly pick up group types where everyone messes around on an unfamiliar class and has a great time. After long deliberation we decided on Toaster's team, as they were the only people looking. That was my first mistake.

After we'd all saddled ourselves up into the server and proceeded to ready, they simply sat in there with only 5 players. They just stared at us as we waited patiently for their sixth. In particular I'd noticed Toaster couldn't keep his eyes off me... I'd wrongly assumed this to simply be a psyche out attempt to maybe make themselves more liable to win, but moments later I was to learn it was something much more predatory...

It was the first round. Everyone was pumped up and looking forward to a great mid fight. I felt uneasy, almost as if I'd missed something before the round started. Half-way to mid it began to sunk in. I was playing pyro.

Mind you, I do enjoy to play utility classes but on a first round I figured that they might take it the wrong way. Once we got to mid it happened. First thing I do is detonator their demoman, then the scouts, then the combo. Within mere seconds 4 people had disconnected. I was alone running towards there forward. It was there that Toaster confronted me, screaming "Tstr: you're fucking bad".

I was devastated. Never before had anyone been so callous to my emotions or class choice. I'd always been told by friends that I was different for being attracted to pyro, but no one had ever had the guts or prejudice to do something like call me bad, or leave the scrim.

I was stunned and within moments it had all ended. I went over it so many times in my mind I could even tell you what Toasters breath smelled like (burnt toast) and reiterate every step I took before the game started, like it was choreographed.

That morning I woke up shaking. I stumbled down into the kitchen and stared at my reflection in the toaster. Who was I? Was I going to continue living this pyro lifestyle or should I just be a "normal" sixes player? Instead of continuing to delude myself I decided to take a stand against people like Toaster. People who couldn't understand me and were simply afraid of what I had the potential, no, the RIGHT to do.

Utility and offclasses happen. Get fucking used to it.

Verdict:
This is what I was wearing when it happened.

#5 Vanilla lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

Vanilla is the originally delicious flavor. You can enjoy it on its own or combine just about any mess of products to concoct a delicious treat for yourself. Wedge it between chocolate and strawberry and you're even going Neapolitan. If you were to extract vanilla as a player I'd say at his core you can toss him on any team and he'll adapt and make you absolutely delicious in whatever division you plan on playing in but don't take my word for it, add this man and get a taste of his playstyle for yourself. Go easy on him though, too much of a good thing will spoil the entire balance of your dish.

Verdict: FDA Approved
