#54 Newbie Mixes in Events
ConcordiaaieraConcordiaHey, does people who currently semi-competitive gamer from halfway across US may join?If you are actually from Indonesia (In which case I believe you mean halfway across the world) you may run into ping issues, and perhaps a bit of a language barrier. However if you are willing to wake up fairly early (8-11 ish AM depending on your timezone) on Saturdays and join mumble I doubt anyone would stop you.
Do not worry. I'm decent at English. Oh well then, see ya early Saturday then.
KevinIsPwnHey, concordia! We'd love to have you, but I really doubt the ping would be playable at all. Feel free to come by this next weekend to try it out though. :)

And if it doesn't work out, check out asiafortress.com it has an academy section, not necessarily the same as Newbie Mixes, but it may be the only option if the ping makes it unplayable.

PankeymanPhunkWhy don't you guys like real girls? Could one of you explain that to me, because I have never understood that.
Going to post this in a pastebin so I don't derail and ruin the thread with this bs. But these are my thoughts on the matter and my explanation http://pastebin.com/zsXWYqE1

Do they expect more, or did the expectations stay the same eve though grown up men are watching cartoos so it's hard for them to find a partner? :D

IDK really, I donate mostly for this reason :0 (to disable them without feeling bad).
However I heard that plus version of AdBlock has some sort of a whitelist so you can try that :)

AlkalineWhen I view the page when I'm not logged in, it shows my bet twice. Not sure why... https://saloon.tf/match/327/

Odd, but the good thing is that your bet is only once in the database so it's purely cosmetical and you won't be receiving two payouts :)
I'll look into it later, thanks for the report!

Watched it before, not bad for a first cast though I'd like to know map scores and who's speaking as I don't really know your voices yet :p

termoGentlemanJontermoi can obviously understand not being allowed to bet on the team you are playing against but how come you cant bet on your own team to win, isnt it just like more incentive for you to try your best? There are a lot of reasons not to allow it but it boils down to the fact that it will change your behaviour. If a bet is placed in a spread situation, let's say win by a certain amount, it could lead to the team behaving differently than they would have otherwise and that means the betting market as well as the playing field is distorted.

While you might still be playing to win, you also might not do things that you would otherwise do, such as allow a merc or go slow for a couple of rounds trying out some different strats when well ahead. These things matter to other users of the site, and their judgements will have to change based on whether you have bet or not.

If the available range of bets becomes wider, betting on certain events or actions, then players would obviously fix that in their own favour once again altering the course of the game and changing the playing field for other punters, which undermines the service and starts to complicate the policing - which bets can players make and which can't they. The blanket ban simplifies things and theoretically ensures the game's integrity.

thats reasonable under the circumstances that there is betting on certain events/actions, but at this point that isn't the case and therefore i dont see why you shouldnt be able to bet on your own team

POW

I mean spread is an extremely common thing with betting and it's already implemented, the only reason I'm not using it is because I didn't explain it very good on the website. And those rules have to be site wide no matter what kind of a game that is.

AndKennethCHERRYtermoi can obviously understand not being allowed to bet on the team you are playing against but how come you cant bet on your own team to win, isnt it just like more incentive for you to try your best? It's league specific, I only disallow you to bet on the opposing team, however ESEA and ozfortress don't want you to bet on any outcome of your match.
UGC, ETF2L and AsiaFortress don't have any rules about it I'm aware of.

This may be temporary. We haven't had the chance to fully discuss this rule internally so I erred on the side of caution, but we may loosen the rule after a proper discussion. No promises though.

I'll probably do it site wide for the [R]eason Gentleman Jon posted earlier
