#5 Buying a PC in Hardware
AlkalineComangliaAlmost no one sells Windows 7 preinstalled anymore so this will be pretty difficult to find one...

Hell microsoft announce no more preinstalls for Windows 7 Basic, Home Premium, or Ultimate. Pro is the only one available now.

Yeah tell me about it. I have found this on newegg that looks reasonable:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883156304

^^It's a bit expensive but thats okay. Can anyone confirm it would run TF2 and possibly CS:GO at 120 fps, obviously with fps configs? It has windows 7 home prem but that's okay.

Also I do have a monitor. It's not 120hz because my parents are funding this stuff and my dad thinks 120hz is useless but oh well. It is pretty big though so I guess thats good. Hopefully next year i can get a 120 hz so i figured i would i try to get a desktop now that can easily put 120 fps.

With ease assuming you run the power setting in highperformance, and probably without even using a CFG.

-edit-
Even if you don't have a 120Hz monitor higher FPS will still translate to smoother, and more accurate mouse movement.

#3 Buying a PC in Hardware
AlkalineI'm sorry, I know there are tons of posts like this out there but I couldn't find one like this so I decided to post.

My old, current desktop is dying, and I need a new one. I'm really busy right now w/ work + school, and still being in high school my parents are willing to buy me one as long as I keep the cost reasonable (under 1000 would be ideal). So I'm going to buy a PC instead of building one. Please, don't tell me to build one because it isn't going to happen right now.

It needs to have Windows 7 Pro. It needs to put out 120+ frames on TF2 but that's the only game I really play so it doesn't need to have an incredible GPU, although currently I have a GTX 460 and I would like to upgrade from that if possible. I would also really prefer a 4th gen i5 or i7 or the AMD equivalent.

I'm really sorry, I hate whining wanting other people to do my work for me. But I've been looking on Newegg and other places for a couple days now and I can't find what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help.

#7 weird ping issue in Q/A Help
BitYeah I can't use cable anymore. But I've been on this wifi for nearly a year now and this issue started yesterday. Thanks for the help though

Did you/anyone install any new large electric appliances? or any electric appliances for that matter in the last few days?

#4 weird ping issue in Q/A Help
BitComangliaBitI'm sorry for "pls fix my ping" thread #9982 but I'm fairly clueless.

Since yesterday I have frequent ping spikes. My regular connection isn't fantastic either, but I never got above 50 ping. My net_graph says my ping is about 175-203 while my ping displayed on the scoreboard remains normal. (idk if that is always the case.)
I already did the usual fixes, verify game cache, ran a ping test (40 ping, 44 jitter and 0 packet loss) and skimmed autoexec for it. Any other game or internet application run with ease.

I'll post a net graph when it occurs soon. But for now I ran out of ideas.

Your jitter is pretty high, try removing electrical equipment away from ethernet cables (or upgrade to CAT 6) if you still have high jitter and you use DSL or Cable you might have line issues and should probably contact your ISP

oh thanks for the reply. I guess it's the line since our router is free and it still occurs. Maybe I should've mentioned I'm on wifi.

Hardwire connection should probably eliminate 50-90% of that jitter.

#165 Player skill rating added to the game in TF2 General Discussion
eeeGentlemanJonAdmirableI hope it is highlander with all unlocks because we might actually start to see some good balance changes.New balance changes would need to be based on some activity that provides data. Equip rates don't really tell them anything they don't already know. We all know what's been suggested before...you're pretty wrong there
the vitasaw has basically 0 equip rate because it doesn't matter in pubs, but I think we'd all agree it's broken in any serious game mode. Similar with things like the Whip and Atomizer and GRU and DDS and Enforcer and Degreaser and Caber etc

Degreaser isn't broken The Pyro class is broken

#31 TF2 Update - 10/30/14 in TF2 General Discussion
takramMessyRecipeNoticed this too, will have to change class now to forward spawn :( It was sometimes buggy anyway though, I remember a number of times I'd have to hammer on it multiple times to get the respawn to happen.

Odd though because the advanced option to 'auto-respawn on loadout changes in respawn zones' still exists and is still enabled for me.

Is it only for, say Loadout A -> Loadout A? I think I wasn't getting respawns even with swapping loadouts (for demo I usually just swap between paintrain and bottle loadouts to switch spawns).

For all loadout changes. You cannot forward spawn by changing loadouts/items anymore. Only by changing class. HL forward spawns are nonexistent as it stands.

There's no actual class limit in ugc configs...

-protothey told me to bring in my modem tomorrow and they'll replace it, i'll get a new ip right? the 70 year old pakistani fellow who i was talking to wasn't very helpful.

probably alot of ISPs assign IPs to your modem's MAC address for set periods of time.

#9 fps drops in Q/A Help
Valjutisuikahttp://teamfortress.tv/thread/20172/my-fps-config if you want maximum frames on dxlevel 81

http://teamfortress.tv/thread/20142/rhapsodys-performance-config this is for dxlevel 9

But like Dance said, if you're still experiencing problems while using an fps config intended to improve your fps, it's probably time you decided to upgrade your cpu (which is most likely bottlenecking your fps).

i'l try it out tnx

halloween events have significant impact on overall FPS. Don't forget to change you power settings to high performance mode if you're using a desktop.

#6 Platinum Player POV's S14 in TF2 General Discussion
SpycyNot too sure if you're interested in European scene or not, but I may be able to find some POV's from Infinite Momentum.

I think Prem, and maybe Div 1 ETF2L should count as "platinum" level at least generally speaking for the purposes of this POV collection.

#7 Potential keylogger? in Off Topic
SchweppesMasterKuniIf he wrote his own keylogger no antivirus in the world would be able to detect it. Reformat and be done with it.I don't think he did though, got it off some scriptkiddy website

If he got it off some website the vast majority of the time most anti-viruses would catch it, if it's one of those free ones you could probably track it down yourself delete 1-2 files and be done with it rofl.

SchweppesI didn't execute anything (or even click anything on it), all I did iirc was copy the standard ubunto iso file from my pc unto his usb, when we couldn't all download it due to slow internet. Full on paranoid I know.

I don't see anything in task manager that looks suspicious. I've looked up the names of some I didn't know (Hkcmd and Igfxpers) bt it turns out they're just windows processes.

If you didn't pull anything off your flash drive you're almost certainly fine. Their's very few keyloggers that do key logging via usb and almost all of them require the usb drive to still be attached.

-edit-
Hkcmd and igfxpers are both fine btw both of those are related to integrated intel graphics.

#11 buying mouse??? in Hardware

Having a mouse at a non-native dpi with a 5/11 slider wtf.

You would probably really like using 1600 DPI on the Nenox, or any mouse for that matter.
