#8 AT&T Fiber Optic in Off Topic
disengageI guess I never looked into it, but yeah, it's a coaxial cable into a modem. So DOCSIS

If you feel like Buckeye is pretty stable and solid I'd probably would stay with them unless you know AT&T in your area is solid and not ridiculously expensive.

#6 AT&T Fiber Optic in Off Topic
disengageThis is what I currently have through Buckeye:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/4312178447.png
About $42 a month

Alright so how do you connect? Do you have a router with an Ethernet Cable that plugs into the wall, a Coaxial Cable that comes from a splitter into a Modem, or a phone line that goes from your modem to a wall jack?

Coaxial Cable

DSL / Phone line

This picture has a filter for the DSL/Landline Phone line but basically it's a narrow ethernet cable

Ethernet Cable

Basically though, if they're both Fiber I'd take a Local option over AT&T in most cases. However if it's DSL/VDSL I'd take Fiber any day, and if it's DOCSIS (the one that uses coaxial cables) it'll depend if AT&T is pretty bad in your area or not considering DOCSIS tends to be really solid and have plenty of bandwidth especially with v3.0 and the soon to be v3.1

Also consider it's called "Buckeye Cablesystem" I'd guess at Fiber or DOCSIS.

#2 AT&T Fiber Optic in Off Topic
disengageI'm getting my own apartment on the first of May and I have basically two options for internet.

AT&T Fiber Optic or Buckeye Express which is local and I know is consistent.

Anyone have experience with AT&T's fiber optic service and can give me their assessment?

What kind of service does buckeye express offer?
DSL, VDSL, DOCSIS, Fiber, PtP wireless (probably not it if it's consistent)

#50 koth_viaduct_pro5 release in Map Discussion

probably what we'll go with

This is basically what I wanted, removed the far right panel so that snipers can't watch between china/cliff

or

remove the far left panel so snipers can't see Main/Concrete

doing both / shortening it would likely fuck up a lot with how scouts/soldiers use rock, removing 1 of the panels also should make playing sniper more interesting cause in order to watch needed angles snipers would have to rotate more. Which snipers having to rotate gives more opportunities to push and/or pick the sniper.

GiraffeRemoving the white fence (http://puu.sh/hmSJA/d76b43a001.jpg) behind both of the big middle rocks would go a long way in making sniper more balanced on the map. Probably not used as much in 6s as in highlander, but in hl most snipers are able to sit on the white fence looking over the rock, have great cover, quickly change sight lines to see every entrance to point and be protected by his whole team. The majority if not all of the other sight lines on viaduct force the sniper to be either more isolated and/or more visible. The fence serves no other purpose but making sniper even stronger and would be great to have it gone.

Don't forget the beast that is Heavy that abuses the fuck out of that too.

-edit-

I'd hate seeing the entire white fence go, I understand it makes sniper horrible to play against though, maybe compromise by shortening the white fence so snipers can only see either left or right not both.

hookyIf anyone desperately needs a 6th and is an Open team, feel free to add me.

Also registration wasn't extended last season. This season will be the same.

Same I should already be paid up.

#174 My FPS config in Customization
_vittoThanks for the update. Going offline mode/turning off steam overlay does not stop the alt tab lag for me. Is changing dxlevel from 81 to 90 the only solution?

I just want to make sure you're removing "-dxlevel 81" from your launch options after the 1st load, as for some users this cause ALT+TAB lag.

sevennnim sorry but sometimes i forget to turn it on but can u make rawinput on by default in the writing?

Alright so

m_rawinput 1 has compatibility issues with some chat programs (xfire), some mice, and a few other raw input programs, etc.

I recommend it on for most people but I can't just have it set to 1

#387 The 120Hz Monitor Thread in Hardware

Name, model number or a link?

#385
Eizo simply counts the backlight turning off as another frame. Et voilà 120Hz become 240Hz.
Welcome to marketing.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, it's lightboost.

Those monitors are interesting for a different reason though. They are VA panels, not TN.

That and the Eizo "lightboost" has less input lag than the "lightboost" you commonly see on ASUS and BenQ monitors.
http://gaming.eizo.com/wp-content/uploads/file/turbo240_whitepaper.pdf
that or I'm understanding this wrong and the reviews of it wrong.

Though Eizo apparently has really bad Quality Control apparently.

#168 My FPS config in Customization

I've updated the cfg 9 days ago, just haven't really told anyone...

The Alt+tab lag is likely "-dxlevel" being in the launch options, or steam overlay, or you have a signifcant number of friends and need to put yourself as "offline" to fix that.

host_thread_mode 0 is now the default in my cfg

this cfg has more fps than the last I have the benchmarks at home but I am at work...

2639 frames 11.825 seconds 223.18 fps ( 4.48 ms/f) 12.324 fps variability

I've ran benchmarks before, so long as you don't have the shittiest GPU ever or using a GPU off your CPU changing resolutions shouldn't have much impact outside of changing the aspect ratio
