I will be helping out the guys at kritzkast on doing lan coverage, we will be doing a lot of youtube content (interviews, showing the venue, stuff like that), and also be having a few vlog's running (the exact details of everything is still being worked out). We will also be having written coverage, a very active twitter/facebook feed, and all that.
we're aiming to do at the very least three videos per day (not counting vlogs), but if all goes we'll we'll have much more content out.
Expect content coming out from wednesday the 21st
truktrukVirulenceRadmanI think the absolute biggest thing fighting games (and rts and mobas) have over TF2 is the viewers perspective. When we're forced to watch only one persons POV in a TF2 match, youre forcing the viewer to fill in all the blanks with their own game knowledge, which is kind of unwieldy for casual viewing.Nailed it. Unless you're already familiar with the environment the players are playing in, people are going to be lost. A fighting game is usually a 2D plane with two characters fighting. A top-down game RTS style game using actual terrain like DotA/StarCraft is easy enough to grasp. A sports match like basketball and soccer not only has a huge fanbase, but they're also viewed from a bird's-eye perspective.
Capturing the action of, say, a roamer bombing into a team to cause a distraction for Scouts to clean up, or a split push in CS:GO is maddening when trying to grab it all live with one camera angle to work with. Switching angles rapidly is disorienting to spectate, and even worse for newer viewers.
Solving this would be really complicated, I'd imagine. Accessibility is murder with first-person team games.
I was thinking if it was possible to have set points on the map we could bind to keys. For example, at mid fights, instead of pressing spacebar then manually flying to a good midfight angle, you simply could press a keybind to go to a specific spot that views the mid fight from a good angle (same would go for cps 1 and 2.) I never mentioned it to anyone because it seems impossible to do, but if it is possible I think it would enhance the viewing experience especially when fights in certain areas last a very long time.
So yeah if anyone is bold enough to attempt to figure something like this out, please give it a try!
it is possible. Just not on sourceTV, its only possible when spectating as a spectator.
I have not done research on this myself, due to the fact that i heard pretty soon that it was not possible, but there are some that can probably tell you more about it, i think Atmo (http://steamcommunity.com/id/bcpk/) should know more
awww yiss, back on the airwaves! So excited
reillyWhile I personally love slow editing, and chill music, I think it doesn't work as well with a top 10 plays video. I think they should be fast, and exciting. Think eXtine screaming "airshot!" in the old top 10s. TF2 is a fast paced game, and highlights are often some of the fastest parts of it.
I still loved the video, and great visuals, but I'm not sure it's the best way to present it.
hmmm, i think its actiually better to have it a little slower edit wise, because its such a high paced game, making the top ten high paced as well can possibly make it too busy, if you know what i mean.
Shrug, dont know for sure of course, but i think the difference in style is nice.
Sideshowif Mike hits a double airshot on stream I'll donate an extra $50, pressure is on mge master
I did my best to capture this, pay out!
Lange I think Skyride and Comedian (with some gentle coaxing) would too.
I dont think anyone can convince me to ever work for byte again.
Looking forward to see awesome shit from this! Initiatives like this are awesome, and as a result I just had to put in a request.
Looking forward to this, Definetly up for selling my hat (my fedora) on an auction if anyone thinks it would raise any money. Probably wont, but hey, all things help right?

Do we still have that bunch of items that chaplain got together for extv? did they get sold/raffeled off?
you know that thing where if you alt-tab TF2, it drops to 18 fps untill you get TF2 back in focus?
WELL NO MORE!
engine_no_focus_sleep 0
just put that in, and enjoy your sexy regular fps even when alt tabbing, now no one will notice if you are looking at porn during streaming!
Oke, so i've flown a few time to insomnia from amsterdam to either gatwick or Birmingham airport as a carryon.
i got a few weird looks, but as long as your PC is under the maximum weight/size, thats all you're gonna get. maybe an extra drugs check or some shit like that, but ye.
for i40, i flew with my midtower case (fractal design r2) and stuffed it with all kinds of crap (weighted like 23kg in the end), but british airways weight/size limits were pretty fucking awesome (not sure how they are now), for i43/45/46 i got a super small alluminum case because KLM is shit and has like a 12kg weight limit.
either way, if its within specs, you can pull it off, just make sure to show up like 3 hours early at the latest!
anything 2500k and up is more than enough for streaming, more is always better, but really not needed. even on stock speeds a 2500k is more than enough
