#44 Lanfest Atlanta 2013 in LAN Discussion

Update:

From our meeting last night:

- We will be having WAY more giveaways throughout the LAN. Along with more small events and competitions. More Intel giveaways other than at the raffle. We want people to have the chance to win Intel prizes by participating in the events we have planned, and not just the raffle. We are changing alot of things for the better. New seating layout which will be better for the flow and give everyone more space! Check it out on the site if you want :) https://lanfest.intel.com/events/atlanta-summer-13/seating (Might have to refresh the page)

- We will have TF2 servers running with configs and such. Brackets and we can run 6s and highlander.

- We a ton of posters at GAtech, GA state, Polytech. Also put up posters at Battle and Brew and gamestores/comic book shops!

- We will be putting up reddit adds starting soon for each game and running them until the time of the event. We are putting in our own cash OTHER than the Intel LAN fund to help with advertising. In the past we have been happy with 120-130 out of the 160 max, but not this year. Out goal is to sell out. WE WILL SELL OUT! Help us reach that goal guys!

The Starcraft 1v1 tourny will be $10 Buy in winner take all!

Get signed up and paid! STOP BEING LAZY! <3

Just a reminder too guys..

Intel looks at the ACTUAL numbers of people paid and seated. They DO NOT care about people who are just signed up and not paid. It does not count your ticket out of the 160 until you pay :)

Im seeing some people for TF2 payed and signing up. Glad to see it lets get some more!

Thanks guys!

I will stress this once again. You guys can buy your tickets and pick your seat now, and if something comes up you can always get a refund for your ticket. The more seats gone sooner.. the better it looks to Intel.

Get your ticket here: https://lanfest.intel.com/events/atlanta-summer-13/register

Other tournaments:

Starcraft - 1v1 & 2v2
League of Legends - 5v5
Battlefield 3 - 4v4

Other tournaments will be put again if we have the participation. We have the servers to run pretty much any game. Sign up ASAP guys!

We need a FPS other than TF2. We talked about DOTA but we all agreed we needed a FPS to replace CS:GO. Battlefield 3 will bring more of a casual group to the LAN which is what we are moving towards. This event is for charity, its not a ESPORTS event.

We are mixing alot of things up this year which I think you guys will like :)

More giveaways during the event, more smaller events for Intel prizes. Our plan is to be giving something away every few hours.

Ok guys.. I've been talking to my fellow admins at Atlanta LANfest. If you guys get atleast 25 people signed up to come for TF2 and make a active list where I can track who is on that list and actually paid I will get trophies made up for you guys and make TF2 an official tournament.

We are trying to encourage games to be run by the community members which you guys have done a great job in the past! That being said...

Do whatever you guys have to do ..call/text/steam harass your friends.

Get 25 people signed up and paid by May 15th and ill get trophies made up for you guys

Trophies from last year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lanfest/8378270141/in/set-72157632518416896

Get your seat here! https://lanfest.intel.com/events/atlanta-summer-13/register

Keep in mind this is a charity event. All proceeds go the charity, Intel just sends us raffle prizes.

Reason for that date? It is about a month from now obviously. So that still gives us a few months to get things going for the event and work TF2 into the tournament sched. and get the trophies made up.

PLEASE NOTE: If for some reason you guys dont get the 25 people. We will still get servers up for you guys and we will still run a tournament and bracket. It just wont be prized.

Hey, We will have servers for you guys. And we will help put together the brackets for the tournaments for you :)

If you are planning on going, just buy your ticket now and select your seat. If things change you can always get a refund.

I say this every year but Intel looks at attendance numbers to decide how many of each prize to send for the raffle. In the past i've seen 20 people make the difference between having multiple i7 processors to give away instead of just one.

Thanks guys!

The dates on that site are wrong. They will be fixed shortly

The rooms are $105 a night. Two queen beds in each room. 4 people per room is only 25 a night per person! Hope to see you all there!

Thanks guys!

I mean last time we did have 46 people show up and pay at the door. So having the people for the actual event isnt going to be the problem. Its just getting people coming for TF2 and are actually worth a dam at the game. I def know you guys want to have a 6v6 with mid+ players ..not terrible pubbers lol
