ayy gerl u gon be my waifu or nah?
aite fuck u den
KhakiAs I've heard from research, gfx card won't make much of a difference as far as fps goes compared to upgrading your cpu will, however I just built a new rig myself and am using the gtx 970, OC'd about 15% with MSI Afterburner, and it performs very well and very quietly.
Yup, source engine is mostly CPU-bound.
If you can go higher, get a 970
my friend just got one and holy fuck that card is fast and OC'd it barely got over 60C

set your min and max CPU speed to 100%
save
Or you can just disable EIST in your bios and your cpu won't change speeds like that
Platypusi just keep an extra config file where I alias "connect IP", then i can just type the alias in console to connect (eg. alias tftvdm1 "connect 64.74.97.61:27015")
Yeah I do the same. Same with pug servers:
alias chi1 "connect chicago1.tf2pug.com:27015; password tf2pug"
alias chi2 "connect chicago2.tf2pug.com:27015; password tf2pug"
alias chi3 "connect chicago3.tf2pug.com:27015; password tf2pug"
alias dal1 "connect dallas1.tf2pug.com:27015; password tf2pug"
alias ch0 "connect ch0.atf2.org:27015; password tf2pug"
alias ch1 "connect ch1.atf2.org:27015; password tf2pug"
alias da0 "connect da0.atf2.org:27015; password tf2pug"
alias da1 "connect da1.atf2.org:27015; password tf2pug"
DeetrDave_hasn't this game been dead since 2012 or something
They pugged yesterday here so I don't think so
Oh cool. I downloaded it off moddb a long time ago but I guess it was inactive then.
hasn't this game been dead since 2012 or something
dxracer is good just has very little back support

I use this in my dorm and it's really comfortable.
I got Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on steam through amazon for $7.50
smoboTino, fps is fps. it's the same PC so what you're saying is irrelevant. you test that 2007 PC and you'll see the same relative performance between the two game versions.
Dave_, mat_queue_mode 2 works in both, but causes crashes occasionally in 2007 mode.
Oh, didn't know that. I guess they never fully implemented it until later on then.
turtsmcgurtsKanecosmobodxlevel 81 with chris' highframes as they are today
2007 BUILD
662 fps
2014 BUILD - i made the settings more equal, and removed the 3d hud character
704 fps
Thats interesting actually but it doesn't say much if you take in consideration 2007 tf2 had 0 extra items and 2014 tf2 has literally over 1000 different items and particles, which are the ones causing severe optimization issues.
but you're forgetting to take into consideration any and all performance improvements valve may have put in the past 7 years.
maybe it was enough to offset the performance loss from extra items?
it's not an accurate test either way, just pointing that out.
mat_queue_mode 2/multithreaded rendering wasn't a thing back in 2007
