The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

SnackSo this will be a weird question but:
Having never watched an episode, should I start Game Of Thrones now that you guys are deeply disappointed with how the series ended? Can I start the show and stop watching it before the bad episodes start and be satisfied? If not, is it even worth it to watch the show all the way through now that we know how bad the last season is?
Season 1-4 is pretty decent. Season 5 is debatable about the drop in quality but it has one of the best episodes. Season 6 is when the writing drops off very noticeably. Season 7 is when the writers no longer care about rules. Season 8 is what has caused such backlash even though its been building for some time. Its really jsut the tipping point
I feel like there is a very large group of the fans that have only watched the last few seasons because they feel they have to after sinking so much time into the series. Without the anticipation and theorycrafting I think you'd have a hard time committing to watching the final few seasons if you feel the writing quality has dipped drastically, which is the general consensus. The visuals do however pick up in the later seasons so if you like pretty colours and explosions whilst not being too interested in plot or depth then you will probably find the latter seasons of the show to be quite enjoyable.
reakowhos the b4nny of the rap game
DreamboatFirst half was good, it was a party but you could feel the tension underneath it. Thought they did a good job balancing the celebration with the tension. The second half was just...why? It felt so poorly done lmao
To me it felt like they made an episode and then cut and pasted 2 extra bits on the end from later episodes. The pacing is just laughable at this point.
