#13 stock vs the original in TF2 General Discussion

The original just makes soldier a bit easier by making it a lot more straight forward (literally and metaphorically). Vanilla requires a little finesse to hit relatively difficult rockets whereas you would just point and click with the original. Just think how much easier pipes would be if they shot out of the center of the screen.

With the original you have to think less about rocket jumps compared to vanilla, but with somebody who's already mained soldier with the vanilla launcher it's a negligible benefit if one at all.

#14 Verizon Fios bad routing? in TF2 General Discussion

scnet hosts some of the most shitty servers that I route through to get to chicago NFO servers. They bump up my ping by like 80ms pretty much at complete random. Fuck SCNET.

Practice for as long as you want to. Don't force your self to play the game.

#27 fps drops/stuttering in Q/A Help
jp_Drewjp_DamnKetoso, maybe it's only a cpu bottlenecking problem.I don't think so. The CPU is just slow. What do you think a CPU bottleneck is?When other components are being limited by it. If he upgrades his GPU and if there are any FPS gains at all (especially with GPU intensive applications), I can assume there is no bottleneck with CPU<->GPU.

I forget what review site had a nice experiment about bottlenecking. But basically they benched a high-end intel cpu with a configuration of regular/tri/quad-SLI nvidia graphics cards and the benchmark showed a clear bottleneck which was indicated with near zero fps gains between the SLI configurations.

Though I still have a tough time getting my mind around this concept of 'bottleneck'...How can you even diagnose one without having to upgrade/spend money. Most of the times I see it used, it's just a moniker for "slow cpu".

A bottleneck in a computer is anything limiting your performance. That is why unless your computer is infinitely powerful, you will always have a bottleneck. So in this case, since TF2 is very CPU dependent, his slow CPU is the limiting factor or bottleneck.

Unless you have some obscene or cryptic problems with your computer you can easily determine what kind of bottlenecks your computer has with certain applications without spending any money.

shlanerI thought the reason they never updated process was because soap spawns weren't updated for that map.

No point in updating the map if the soap spawns aren't updated.

Then lets make an effort to update the spawns instead of playing on an outdated map.

I used to ping ~65ms now I get 80+ms. Nothing's going wrong on my end and someone else said they were pinging higher too.

#3 Getting a monitor from eBay in Hardware

I bought a 120hz viewsonic for ~$90 on ebay only problem was that it only came with a single-link dvi cable. You just make sure that all of the reviews that guys has are positive and that they aren't for extremely cheap things.

#3 Firefall in Off Topic

It's a very good game but it's still very much a beta. There aren't any more quests than the couple of introductory ones they give you, but there's still plenty to do as far as getting resources, upgrading your battle frames, PVP (which has a bunch of esports focused updates), and etc. Not to mention that the map is fucking HUGE and there's plenty of places to explore and look around for cool stuff.

Yeah I just started using it the other day and my game seems a bit more responsive now.
