RustikPumReminder that the
ValveReplaced convar tf_teamtalk with tf_gravetalk
When disabled, living players cannot hear the dead, regardless of team
Defaults to on, except in Competitive matches
Was changed in a #2 update the same day to
ValveUpdated tf_gravetalk setting for Competitive mode to be on by default.

For Valve, this was really fast and I'm glad that they did this.
However, now I'm wondering why it wasn't on by default originally for comp and what got them to quickly change it on the same day...
people complained
Just when I finally forgot about it
aim-Look I'm tired of seeing a chain of white people still justifYing how a slur isn't bad. Who ever unlocked this thread is playing Devils advocate straight up
If you're talking about me, how is "black" a slur?
GentlemanJonDatDrummerGuyHe's not indentified only by being black, it's just an element of the comparison used between him and STAR_, which to me is originally pretty meliorative. It's like calling someone "the white Ray Charles", you know. Calling someone black, white, whatever isn't racist, you're not implying anything. It's just a part of them who describes them as a person, and differentiates them from the people they're being compared to. Like if I were the best at TF2, people would call me "the french b4nny".Well in this case you have a black person telling you that it is a problem for them. I'm not sure how much more information you need, maybe I'm missing something myself and I'm asking the wrong questions. I think there's more at work here than you think though.
Fuck, this made sense in my head but I can't explain it.
I'm not telling him not to have a problem with that, he does and thinks whatever he wants. I'm just saying I don't think calling someone the "black ster" is inherently racist.
pendato me it just seemed like tagg didn't want to be identified by his being black which is more than understandable
also the slurs and stuff
GentlemanJonWould you say that it credits Tagg with any individual quality beyond being black? Does it sound like he's just copying someone else (who is white) and brings nothing else to it other than being black? Can you think of any good reason why you wouldn't find out about Tagg's specific individual qualities instead of just overwriting them with those of a white person?
I wouldn't say it was the most hate filled sentiment I've ever heard, but obviously the speaker saw primarily the colour of the skin first and the person second. Sounds like a fairly straightforward definition of racism no?
e: I should add that when they say Black they are presumably also implying a load of black tropes and stereotypes. I don't know how well you know Tagg or watch his stream, but neither ster nor black stereotypes are things that spring immediately to my mind as appropriate to describe him.

I understand the concern with the n-word, but how is "black ster" considered a slur?
I mean, I see it as a compliment, and calling a black guy "black" isn't racist, or pejorative. I think people associate things to racism too quickly.
Anyway, this escalated quickly.
Oh, that's not what I meant! I wasn't blaming you, it's just that I won't try to play on Chicago servers.
yttriumDatDrummerGuyIt will be an international tournament, right? You can play from anywhere but as of right now, you'll be playing on Chicago servers. Not sure if this is a FaceIT limitation right now or because we don't have EU admins.
120 ping scout seems pretty fun
THEBILLDOZERrowpiecesu will all be over it in a week lolTfw the resident 14 yo is more mature about this than half of the thread
I think that Trump's presidency will affect Americans for more than a week though...
Obviously, it will somehow affect the rest of the world as well.
