Even if ESEA dies for TF2, there's Faceit coming.
As long as your frames aren't so low that you're teleporting around and having drops to like 10 FPS, it's good enough.
eeeIs it better to never run or take last place?
You at least tried if you take last place.
If you never do it, then it probably means you never tried and also too afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
To compare it to your situation, you're in the race already. You can't really "never run." You have to place in your race, or forfeit, but forfeiting makes you look worse than if you placed last imo.
Also, this type of mentality is horrible.
Stop playing so competitively, and play more casually. Put your competitive mentality towards working out or something similar to boost your self esteem/ego. Instead of getting upset that others are passing you or beating you, go work out and make goals to improve in real life, like with getting a good degree and living healthy.
Do something like a New Year's resolution (but actually follow up), and instead of beating yourself up over virtual competition, try and compete with yourself and see how you can surpass you past self. Pretend your goal of getting a good degree/job, or looking fit to boost self esteem, is the equivalent of making it to Invite/Prem TF2. Once you reach it, then you can be your own champion for achieving your long term goal.
As a bonus, achieving positive real life goals will help you out significantly more than winning championships in video games.
Above all, stay strong and stay positive.
Tsarbuckspine_beetleJoin the army... Not for everyone but I respect anybody that does.
This is actually the path I'm going down. I want to go to USNA, or ROTC. I get free college, a steady job out of college, staying an extra 2 years means the government will pay for my master's degree if I want one. Especially in the US, it's a good path, and could be good for you.
Plus, you get good experience for future job applications.
But, if this isn't your thing, just tough it out for a few more years. You've made it through all those years of elementary school through high school. Get a degree, and be a Physician's Assistant or something.
Tbh, I have no idea what a PA does, but it might fit you due to it being in the same field, and it's not as difficult as being a doctor.
PhiCardinal is a 5cp control point map taking place across a large military base "disguised" with a commercial agency's façade. Positioned in a tactically advanced position with nods to Cold War preparation and protection, only one team can own this base - and you'd best hope it's yours!
Focusing around height differences, unusual route arrangements, and a unique layout, Cardinal is a lot of concepts you're simultaneously familiar and unfamiliar with - creating a distinctly novel gameplay experience.
If this gets put in the competitive map cycle, I think this is on the way to being my new favorite map. Can't wait. :D
greenkingwashere[*] HIGHLANDER IS MY PRIORITY. This means if my HL scrims are at 10:00, my 6v6 scrims would have to be before or after
If Highlander is your priority, then Open probably isn't a good idea. Also, I recommend at least a season of UGC Steel 6v6 before going into Open, due to the fact that your only 6v6 experience is Newbie mixes and lobbies, and that you seem to be a Engineer main.
EDIT: However, if you are willing to make 6v6 your priority and really want to play in Open, sign up ASAP for the Newbie Mix Open drive as soon as it is ready. ESEA is currently in playoffs, so the Open team drive should be announced soon. It's a good way to learn a 6v6 class coming fresh off Highlander, and a good way to know how ESEA works.
Is ondkaja done forever after those uber drops?
WARHURYEAHPhD.
How did I just find out about this?
Screw other reviewers, WARHURYEAH is all I need.
I take a 3-4 day break from anything competitive (lobbies, PUGs, DM, MGE, you name it), and focus on something else, whether it's Overwatch, watching streams, not sitting around and being worthless, or even life. After that period, I come back, work my way back up by crushing bots before facing other humans.
However, there are times where I want a break, but not stop playing TF2. In that case, I just hop in a Matchmaking game (casual or comp), or just go to a pub, and I work on some class I don't main and just play for fun while unconsciously improving on that less used class.
