WaldoFerskinvisitnigFerskinfinnaThis is another issue of "oh I'm really smart I'm just lazy".

Smart people aren't lazy fucks.
thats what you think, you obviously never were smart.

God damn, if I was his father and knew this kind of attitude, I would have kicked his ass, destroyed his computer with a bat right in front of him, and bought him a $200 netbook.
So in guessing you never in your life acted like that? I dont think you realize all kids that are smart have to act like the kindest kids the world has seen, at least not to a bunch of people I don't know in real life
contrary to what you may believe, you aren't very smart at all
why else would you be arguing that tf2 is more important than school?

I don't remember saying tf2 was more important, all I'm asking is for advice in what to do, and the only reason I made this thread is mainly to know if I should just quit tf2 and focus on studies. So let's leave it at that and let this thread die now, I'm not going to bother reading anymore replies from you or anyone else so you can say what you want, just realize it's falling into deaf ears.

butterbuttDeck your sister in the balls, faget.

what

thrasherLol I was typing it on my phone and it submitted half way

Also, be nice to your parents, don't fight with them right now because it won't solve anything. Take the punishment. TF2 has been going strong since 2007, it's not going anywhere. Do better on a few tests and then ask your parents to give you another chance. If they do, prove you can balance both.

Don't tell or fight with them now. It'll only make you seem more "addicted" and make their argument seem more valid

(Wanted to put that all in the one post... Stupid iPhone)

i guess you are right about not arguing, i try to avoid it a lot but some times it just feels like my dad is deliberately trying to get into a argument with me and i even tried asking him why does he want to argue with me so much.

thrasherThere's enough time to study and play. Let me tell you a little story about me, and how I dealt with a similar type of situation when I was in high school.

I should mention before hand for those of you who don't know me... I'm 32. I may use some terms you are unfamiliar with like "dial up", and "land line". You have been warned.

The summer before I started high school I went to my friend marks house. Back then it was fairly uncommon to have a home PC. Mark had one and he said "you gotta see this" and then he showed me Doom. Now I had played wolfenstein at my cousins before but doom blew my mind. I had to have it. I went home... "Mom, Dad... I need a computer... For school!"

A week later we had one, and we used one of those AOL free hours discs and connected our blazing fast 14.4 modem to the phone line. I used my allowance to buy Doom, Doom 2, and Quake. My friend and I discovered a brand new m

Are you planning on finishing the story?

R3VoltYo, do we have the same parents or something? My family is Vietnamese and I get this shit all the time. Used to play ESEA Open and I'd have to leave a couple scrims early and missed others. Left one match early as well. Parents thought I was addicted, even though I was getting B+ to B- in school. Then my grades started dropping, my parents said from video games. It wasn't though, it was from all the stress of my parents arguing with me and shit. Fucking hell, I already have gray hair, AND I'M 16.

Anywho, I quit playing TF2, I only play it casually. Just don't fucking listen to your parents. They're lunatics and so are mine. They REALLY, like REALLY, do not understand commonsense nor do they want to. Here's a story about logic and commonsense. I was about 180 lbs last summer and I wanted to lose weight. I went and lost weight. I weigh 140 now which is a good range for the height/age I'm at. My mom thinks I'm TOO SKINNY. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? LMAO, it takes a lot for me to not just burst out about how utterly ridiculous their train of thought is. (Sorry for the reference, but) They are like an autistic train; trains have multiple paths they can take. The best one is the one that rides you to the next station, then there are MULTIPLE paths that are blocked off. Guess which one they take? Yeah...

So, for all intents and purposes, just ignore them. You know better than them. Focus on school, show them that you can do EVERYTHING and that you don't need them. Once you get where you need, spit on their shoes and walk. It is too taxing to argue with them. Hope all goes well for yah mate.

I'd like to see you try and argue with an asian parent that has huge muscles and taller than you. Not to mention if I did bother arguing I would probably be kicked out of the house. I respect and love my parents dearly I don't want to ignore the people that have helped me with a lot of things I won't even remember

obe_I included an edit regarding your decision. It's good that you decided to hold off on comp TF2. I just wanted you to know that your dad isn't doing this to be a dick and that you shouldn't be mad at him, especially if this is the first time that he's cut you off of one of your hobbies for the sake of performing better in school (although it's fair to say that your sister was just trying to make you mad).

I know I shouldn't and I have literally put the blame on me for several of the things he had done. And this isn't the first time he cut me off of something I liked. Like I remembered I used to go to my friends house and be really social at school and still get good grades, got a 95 on a test and that life was over

obe_What's with the terrible advice in here? Move out? Try to explain to his dad that video games are important? Talk to a counselor? None of this shit makes sense.

This is high school. You should be doing much better than a high 70. That's why your dad cut off your computer time; not because he hates you, not because he thinks you aren't doing enough homework, but because he ALSO knows that you should be doing MUCH better than a high 70 in high school. You're only 16 so you're probably a sophomore, meaning your course load is probably piss easy unless you opted for some advanced placement courses or college placement courses (and if that's the case, you should ABSOLUTELY be prioritizing those over video games). It's pretty ridiculous to get anything less than a B in a non-AP or ACP test because that just means you didn't try studying for it at all.

High school is not hard at all and I think your dad knows that, so he's upset that you pulled a "strong 70" (which is nothing to be proud of) instead of getting the grades that he knows you could be getting. Don't be angry at your dad. He just wants you to be performing at your best, and he thinks that doing all of your studying/homework in the morning (which I'm guessing means you lose sleep) and doing nothing but playing video games in the evening is severely hindering your ability to perform as well as he thinks you should be.

Quit your internet video game team because it's not important at all in the long run. You can still play video games, and even just play pubs in TF2 from time to time, but committing yourself to a team in competitive TF2 and prioritizing that over schoolwork is ridiculous. Finish out the rest of the year. You've got like one month left. Accept that your sister got off scot free because I can only assume that you flipped your shit or something (given the way you worded your post) and further convinced your father that you're obsessed with playing video games. Just understand that you were already on thin ice and your parents were bound to believe your sister over you. That's unfair, but it's just how sibling rivalry works. Most people who have siblings (especially younger ones) had to deal with it too.

Honestly, I don't even want to bring up the asian dad stereotype. Most parents should know how piss easy high school is and should have a reasonable standard for their kids to get better grades than strong 70s.

I know that high school is easy and all. If you read my last post it says what my decision is

remedyhow are you one of the smartest people in your class if you're getting C's?remedyhow are you one of the smartest people in your class if you're getting C's?

I'm guessing you never heard of trying at the last weeks of school when you know you will get a good enough average at high school, good enough that if you fail you can a still pass and go to the next grade. Fragile, thanks for the advice and to others also, made up my mind I'll just focus in studies and just not play competitive until Im out of school.

SnowyIn high school there's more than enough time to prepare for school and play hours upon hours of video games every day. Don't pretend your parents are forcing you to choose between TF2 and studying; you can easily do both. You just don't want to study. Can't fix a problem if you refuse to acknowledge it.

That being said, be nicer to your parents. They only want the best for you, even though they're not sure how to go about getting you there.

Don't listen to the idiots telling you to move out. You're nowhere near independent enough to do so. It'll only hurt your family, and in the end, yourself.

I tried to just ignore what they said and make them happy so many times. Yet they act like it doesn't even matter. I love my parents a lot but this is getting ridiculous, I'm the one that's always getting in trouble for what my sister starts and it makes me angry

stonedchinamanfuck video games for now til ur done school (u only got a month left)
then play hard during the summer, or do w/e fk u want.

"He changes the password to my computer" I doubt he would let me.

Fightmastertell your father he'll regret standing between you and the lucrative career of being a professional esports athlete

He would probably want to disown me if I did.

alec_quit the team and play games casually if you can only pull a high C in a class at the moment because odds are you're smarter than that

I only have a c because our teacher literally piles on work when we have tests, I don't think my dad understands that having a good solid average of 97 I'm the first semester means I won't fail or anything

synchroSounds like your dad is a jerk.

We can't do anything about it over the internet, sorry. You should probably seek professional help if you want to "deck [your dad] in the balls".

I don't know I'm usually one of those cool heads that forgives people because I have been in there position several times, but this was just pissing me off so much, I even tried saying how I am one of the most smartest kids in my high school, but I get some lecture of how retarded white people are ( we are asian)
