Hey Guys. I've spent the last week or so working on a website to help new players and teams break into the competitive scene and would like your thoughts.
I've noticed that at lower levels of competitive TF2, players usually find teams and vice versa through a long and tedious process of forum posting, social networking, random tryouts and server joining, informal steam group applications, etc. I watched a friend spend three weeks finding a steel HL team and had another friend spend over a month compiling an initial HL iron roster. This website is my attempt at simplifying the process, and I'd love any feedback you might have on how to make it more useful to the community.
Here is the website: http://tf2teambuilder.t15.org . It is still very much a work in progress by a low-budget college student (hence the beta categorization and lack of top level domain), but I thought it was a good time to open it up to the community and see how it can be improved. It currently has the following features (with more on the way):
- Standardized application submission including experience, preferences, youtube videos, and other info
- Detailed application search filtering for quickly finding only the applications that best fit your needs based on content, not keywords
- Profiles with easy access to your open/closed applications
There is not much content in the system at this point, so I'll include some screenshots from my development version of the database (with dummy data) to give you an idea of what the site is already capable of:
- Application View ( http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/4583/application1.png )
- Application View 2 ( http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/1563/application2.png )
- Search View ( http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/9236/searchb.png )
- Search Results View ( http://imageshack.us/a/img13/3497/searchresultsc.png )
- Application Submission ( http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7435/applicationsubmission.png )
- Profile ( http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2228/profilehc.png )
I apologize if this is not the correct category in which to post this thread.
Any feedback you have is welcome!
