Do you think the crowns/spanked fundraiser for dreamhack (1k raised) would have been the same without a showmatch?

Kinda childish tbh
Like, lets be honest here, not doing a showmatch hurts Froyo way more than Full Tilt, since b4nny still has to raise an estimated amount of 2000 to 2500 bucks (the last update was 3000 dollars raised) in 6 days. Full Tilt was merely missing 600 so jokes on b4nny.
I wonder: can you just create tournaments without having to sign up anything or smthing?
I think now during pre-season, in which new teams are forming, it would be a great opportunity to get a cup filled up
Noticed this in a mix yesterday: if you happen to stand near the BLU forward spawn at mid while fighting an enemy on their roof, you will get blinded by the sun
The map looks great visually, however I see a lot of flaws which could make the map really stalemate-y and not fun to play. I'll try and review this map soon to point out what I mean (if there isn't any changes to it by then)
Also, to make this post not completely pointless, here is a texture bug under the second point

This is dx8, I haven't checked dx9 yet.
Well I dunno about you but for me the guy in the video doesn't really looks like he feels confident in what they are doing.
To be honest though, they cater to the casual/actual playerbase now that they realized that there isn't really that much interest in pro-competitive Overwatch (its still bigger than TF2, I know)
I'm not saying this is a bad thing, however gimmicky gamemodes won't create a dedicated playerbase. It's a shooter, and they should focus on making the game itself better because it has flaws and because a slowly increasing minority of the playerbase is barely touching the game anymore. I don't wan't to play a tracer race, I don't want to participate in an ana/widowmaker target shooting contest and I don't want to compete in a genji tennis match. This is nonsense, the difference between TF2 "seasonal" events and Overwatch seasonal events is that TF2 still retains the features of a FPS on halloween. I didn't buy TF2 for pass time, I didn't buy GTA V to play golf and I simply didn't buy Overwatch for the developers to shift some of their attention on creating tons of virtual sports-sim-events and other gimmicky sub-gamemodes which stray away from the original genre of the game.

farnsworthhow many sponsors does tf2 have left?
If I recall correctly only Ronin and technically running with scizors still have sponsors. I also heard of an ETF2L team which is supposedly being sponsored by matcherino, can't really say anything about that though.
Streep36After everything that happened between thalash and b4nny I want them even more at lan so we can have much drama and a big showdown
Implying this won't just end with both guys standing in the corner with their arms folded, trying to avoid each other
Man Im gonna miss tek
Goddamn, I legit enjoy playing a few rounds with pals every now and then, but watching the game is so horrible.
Flashy shit, stuff happening but at the same nothing happening it all.
Sad to see that money makes Esports, not competitive gameplay quality.
InoI don't think LANs are the way to generate interest for the general public in TF2 competitive because most people don't really care for LANs at all. Only those who already have a genuine interest in competitive play do and they will most likely already know all about 6s.
You need online advertisements so even the most casual user at least knows that there is comp and what it looks like. That way you draw in new people. LANs only keep in those already invested in the game, which is obviously also needed.
Wrong.
LANs are always more popular than league games. DHS was a huge success considering past tournaments outside of insomnia weren't as popular. Also, theres enough advertisement and I fully expect i58 to get around 10k average.
Just look at OW, on average the league games get like 2k viewers more than TF2 league matches.
What is really missing is the prize pools. Big e-sports organizations bring in more viewers/players and create a look of "professionalism", which also creates more interest.
Someone (on tftv?) suggested that valve should use a small portion of the TF2 earnings to support tournaments. I think b4nny should talk with them about this, considering they don't listen to his weapon balancing ideas anyway.
I appreciate the effort you put into this but people either enjoy watching competitive or they dont. Imo you should focus on other things. If you think explaining the format helps new people with their viewing experience you are dead wrong because viewers who are not invested balls deep in the scene won't care about uber and player advantage, they are interested in what happens on screen. Explaining the format won't stop new players from giving up on watching after experiencing a 25 minute stalemate.
DamnEasyTbh there should be more koth maps they are way more fun to play and no stalemates.
I don't know how many koth maps exist but ETF2L should try out some koth maps in the s25 preseason cup tbh
