#11 Future Toronto LANs Discussion in LAN Discussion
ShdSteelI'd fly in from the great south, regardless of size or location. Idk about others but personally it seems like a hassle to BYOC, although I understand the financial aspect and reasoning behind it.

Well, the issue I have is that when I book Hunter & Lucas, I need to have the EXACT numbers before I can book the venue, and it can be difficult to change them after that. Whereas if I book a hall for BYOC, I only have to worry about not selling more tickets than space in the hall.

#1 Future Toronto LANs Discussion in LAN Discussion

Hey guys, as promised, here is the thread.

I wanted to open up the discussion regarding future LANs in and around Toronto, and what you guys would like to see out of them. This is a discussion I have wanted for quite a while, but kept putting it off. It was brought to my attention a little while ago, the possibility of having a small get together in Toronto at the same time as FLan. Only problem is, I can't organize that because I'll still be working at summer camp. Please keep in mind that I am likely to work at this summer camp again next year.

So here's what I want to know from you guys, in particular the ones who attended the previous Toronto LANs I've done:

  • Do you want smaller, more frequent local events (With small-no prizes), or bigger, less frequent events?
  • Would you like to remain in the Hunter & Lucas venue, or use a venue that is BYOC?
  • Are you open to attending a bigger LAN if I were to organize the TF2 tournament there?

Any feedback from previous Toronto LANs are welcome as well.

#10 LAN location interest survey in LAN Discussion

My opinion is probably not going to be the most valid over the next little while, because I may be hindered by work, school, and money. But I will still try regardless.

While I prefer something in Ontario, the north-east coast of the US works for me as well.

#41 GXL in LAN Discussion

Hey guys, I only saw this thread now, as I'm working at a summer camp with limited internet access.

I've been meaning to open up a thread to discuss the future of LANs in Toronto and area, because I would love to do more. I have been procrastinating the discussion because one, I'm working all summer, and two, I was dealing with some depression, which is part of what made the last LAN kinda bum.

I'll read into this more when I'm at my computer, which will hopefully be tonight.

#63 What kind of Mechanical Keyboard Switch do you use in Hardware

According to the chart from r/mechanicalkeyboards, Reds and Browns have the same activation force. However people often believe Browns are slightly heavier to press due to the tactile feedback. Blues aren't that much heavier to press on, but what I like about Browns over Blues is that you can press down on the key a little before it activates without much force.

The keyboard I use most of the time has Cherry MX Browns, however I have a smaller keyboard that I use for LANs or with my laptop that has Cherry MX Blues. I honestly don't have a preference to either.

#9 Azio Keyboard in Hardware

K70 is probably worth the extra ~$20-$30 for the Cherry MX switches, better wrist rest, and USB passthrough. If RGB lighting means something to you, I'd look at the Strafe. It's cheaper than the K70 RGB, but for some reason gets all the goodies the original K70 has, but the RGB version didn't get. (Textured WASD keys and USB passthrough.)

#3103 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization
Wiethoofd@ Hidi HudMatchStatus.res now contains the timer and HudObjectiveTimePanel the backgrounds, the servertime, waiting for players, overtime and sudden death labels.

Alright, I set all the values for visible in both files to zero. However, I've noticed a small grey (sometimes white) rectangle appearing at the top left corner of the screen. http://puu.sh/oVRt2/ea4bcbaa94.jpg Any guesses?

#3099 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization

For most 5cp and PL maps, when recording with Lawena, the killfeed only HUD preset is showing a small round timer at the top: http://puu.sh/oUWET/a5e7f8610c.jpg

Where are the parameters for the round timer located so I can hide them?

#19 Keyboards questions in Hardware
SilkPennyThis is on my wishlist and is the keyboard used by three of my kids, all competitive gamers:

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00CD1FC6G?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

K70 or bust! It's a very well-built keyboard and comes with media keys and USB passthrough (The non-RBG version).

I also have a Cooler Master Quickfire TK http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfiretk/ I like ijt because it's a middle ground between a smaller keyboard, and not having a numpad altogether (arrow keys and pg up and those ones are merged with the numpad)

#14 Make UGC Great Again in TF2 General Discussion
DrPloxoDon't act like that's a negative.
It is, for a lack of a better term, a clusterfuck. 6 is a huge team compared to other esports. the fact that MM isn't 5's or 9's (or 7, 8 or 4s) should tell you that HL has no place in real competition.

I doubt too many active Highlander players really expect any sort of official support or organization for the format. As long as people have fun playing it and the league is willing to host it, I don't see why things can't continue as they have been.

#5 chair options? in Hardware

It's near the end of the month. Look on people's driveways - it's amazing what people throw out. As an example of something I found: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cht85l8XAAAvtb7.jpg:large

#69 Lawena v4.0 is out. in Videos

When I record, I typically use the "killstreaks only" preset. However on some maps, a round timer has begun to pop up on some of my clips.

What is the name of the round timer in the HUD files, and how would I go about removing it in Lawena?
