#111 Why do so many people bash 9v9? in TF2 General Discussion

Wouldn't say there is much hate towards HL, I'd say people have their preferred game-mode and choose to play either in one or the other or both. Anyone who truly thinks 6v6 players perceive HL as a threat is extremely paranoid and over-protective of their preferred gamemode, anyone who actually is a 6v6 player and thinks HL is a threat is extremely close minded and unaware of what is happening in this game on a player-by-player level. Hundreds of people who started in HL moved to 6v6 for a variety of reasons you can only fathom to do with the weaknesses of the HL gamemode.

Both gamemodes have positives and negatives, for sixes a lot of the TF2 playerbase won't like it simply because there isn't a Pyro and Pyro is their favourite class - Not a weakness in the eyes of many a 6v6 player, but to a person who invests their time in that class, why would they want to play a gamemode where they can't/shouldn't play it 98% of the time? That is the big advantage of Highlander, it opens up competitive TF2 for everybody that plays the game, whether you're favourite class is Pyro, Heavy, Spy, Engineer, Sniper or the classic 6v6 classes, either way you have a competitive gamemode designed for you to come in and learn more about your class and play. Isn't that the point of competitive TF2? Anyone who wants to turn this into an "us vs them" scenerio is an idiot and is damaging the scene, sadly people do it but the hate towards Highlander is only really towards the gamemode itself opposed to the community (bad attitudes exist in both formats), I can fully appreciate why people would hate playing 9v9, but what 6v6 players don't appreciate it people have their reasons for hating 6v6 gamemode as well and they are the opposite values that 9v9 incorporates. (unlocks, class limits, class selection, map choices..etc).

Big problem with Highlander is there aren't enough people who contribute it and remain proud of their gamemode to put down coverage regularly in the form of articles, interviews, and just visiting forums and expanding the community. People who take it seriously are extremely closed off from the wider spectrum of the competitive community therefore people can only base their judgements off of what they read, watch and limited experiences of 9v9.

TL:DR - Both competitive formats are great in their own ways, both scenes should work together to be part of a "wider" competitive TF2 scene because a player playing competitive TF2 is better than a player playing public TF2.

harbleubscHOW DARE EXTV CAST SOMEONE ELSE'S MATCHdon't think anyone implied that. its like having mix^ vs hrg on and casting two low invite teams. its a disservice to the community and fans who want to watch. im not saying lower level matches shouldn't be casted but the hype matches between top teams should always be a higher priority. anyway i'll probably end up streaming my pov so people will at least have some way to watch it.

"disservice to community" - no-one casts anything anyway, a dis-service to the community is to not agree to move your match to accommodate casting orgs by that logic. I am getting up at 2am to cast this, Extine + the streamer are taking time out of their busy schedules to cast - And you talk about Dis-service?

No, a "disservice" would be to cast nothing at all.

Really though, I think this match is a good choice because these are two teams that are lesser known, more likely to practise the map (Hello mTs, I know you never used to take shit maps seriously) plus there is the element of the unknown entity and I enjoy casting people I don't know more than players who get all the love.

#115 Breaking bad in Off Topic
TwiiKuuAm I the only one that find most of the female characters are bringing way more stupid QQ drama than ever needed? I skipped most of the conversations involving Skyler because of the cringe it induced me.
Show Content
no macho

Because Family, Safety of your children, honesty and being a husband is boring QQ drama. They're only annoying in the sense they are a barrier for the ones we're rooting for (Walt, Jesse) having all the freedom in the world, without them the show isn't half as good as they act as motives to the character's behaviour.

#5 How do you deal with in Off Topic

Depends if it is IRL, if it is physical then you have to stand up for yourself, some people only understand physical responses. It all depends on the person you're dealing with really, some people will create aggro for you but then won't be able to put up with it in response. If they are much physically stronger it is probably deeper issues with themselves that leads them to being insecure enough to harass you rather than to deal with their own issues.

I have a friend I adore who had to deal with harassment from a group of people in TF2 and it made her experience of the game dreadful to the point of not wanting to play, those types of people are the types who hide behind their anonmity online, I do take comfort in the fact these people are pathetic cowards that when faced with harassment from other people they hide in their shells.

Essentially though you need to ask the question "are these people worth my attention" because honestly the majority of people who harass me are not worth any sort of response or your acknowledgement, although these interactions are exclusively online, the only sort of IRL harassment I get is from an angry customer and hell, I can't ignore that.

#21 Please help! Friend got scammed in Q/A Help
rr-This forum is a Competitive TF2 forum, not some trading forum like valve has. Personally I have 0 clue why you would come to us for your trading drama. I don't think anyone really cares about your friends hat or anything since you came on here begging for help and you aren't even apart of the community at all.

I think it's probably a scam in itself.

Do these people think we're this gullible? Now excuse me I got me a plane to catch to Nigeria, gonna cash me a

#48 Gauging Interest for an Idea in TF2 General Discussion
RhetoricalAnarchistThis sounds like a great idea, I would definitely play in this. Could be lots of fun, especially because of the chance to play with players outside of your own division. I pocketed a drunk Hildreth once, and it was the funniest pug I've ever played, and I learned a little bit. I could see this system facilitating that, as well as giving some teams a chance to practice seriously.

Please tell me I kept my clothes on.

#16 Dreamhack CS gets 250k from cosmetic sales in CS2 General Discussion

Arx, it's all about getting the people to do it, if you're that passionate I'd suggest you get a team of people to work on this project. Think about the concept, the model you want to propose, what/who you will need to create this and set a timeline for these things to be done - then make the presentation to Valve as best you can.

Sadly my understanding of these things is rather small, my guess is you'd need a team involving someone who has good connections with Valve (eXtine or a Sal), someone who has an understanding of business/finance and/or is familiar with TF2's profit making ability who can give you the best figures/calculations, someone who can do the presentation/write it up, someone who can actually create the items, someone able to co-ordinate with Multiplay and all other efforts. You would want to have a few people on board to discuss the idea who have some relevant understanding, so you can hold a few meetings or so. Overall though, this sort of thing can only be achieved by someone stepping up, for what is potentially the most important community project of them all (getting legit Valve support) so it is well out of my depth in expertise for a project of such importance.

It'd be nice to just see some people try but I can only imagine the effort, co-ordination and work that would need to be done with of course the huge potential of rejection and shortfall.
