This LAN was much more fun than i55 for me just on a community basis, I wish we could have had more serious teams attend for the sake of competition but I still enjoyed playing, shame I did not get the spectate anything, but the biggest and best thing about Insomnia LANs now are the quality of the games/coverage. These weren't the best games, coverage wasn't amazing in comparison but for the attendees we had a fuck load of good time gaming/chilling/drinking/giving multiple people lifts to the shop and attempting German with locals.

Also Stinson, you should have made this an article, I know you may think you don't want to impose on the ongoing things, but this is half the problem with the HL community, we never put ourselves out there, this is a big competitive community website and it is the main hub for TF2, these things are important and we should be talking about it more often.

And big respect for the organising, we all had a blast but if you reach the stage of fucking up your education, its time to find more help.

I use 4:3 simply for FPS, I'd use 16:9 every day of the week if I could get same performance.

So just testing it for the first time, I notice there are random people requesting control even though I did not share the link with anyone to view it, does this mean they are viewing the session I am in right now?

Feels like a troll, but if it is true the saying "A fool and his money will soon depart". Honestly I don't get the aim of this thread, if you want to set up a server what is the purpose? For a community? To sponsor a team? To gain regular players to advertise to?

What rulesets will you use?

What will be the experience cap?

Any prizes?

Where will you recruit?

Schedule?

Maps?

If you don't at least have some thought about how to handle these questions, you should quit now. I like the idea of like a UK based league but you see in EU most people can speak English, so it doesn't really work to exclude nationalities. If you did say a Russian newbie league, it'd be different as only Russian speaking countries would apply.

Could be an option to have a link or a page somewhere for those new to comp TF2 visiting the website?

my first interaction with him on the Archimedes cup was an experience I won't forget any time soon. I was hoping we could arrange some sponsorship, I was hoping a few keys or something, Geel casually says "I could give you like $2,000", I nearly choked on my tea!

Geel is professional, intelligent and extremely generous, the right sort of fit for Saloon.tf to help take it to the next level. I can only imagine Geel & co's influence to be a beneficial thing for competitive TF2. More numbers, more viewers, more money and more support for TF2.
I encourage everybody to give Saloon as much feedback as possible during the changes in order to gain the best service possible from the website because I think it's going to be huge for this scene!

One cannot express how much Cherry has done in his short TF2 tenure for competitive TF2.
Gravely missed working with him, though I did nearly fuck all, I respect his intelligence, attention to detail, talent and stories of drunken adventures.

Good luck to Cherry in the future, hopefully he can refocus his talents on TF2 soon.

Love the website, it could potentially allow for teams to be more tactical and co-ordinated in pushes, like football teams in set pieces.

I am sure strategy meeting at Blizzard is a lot more detailed than as described above.

One thing they will need to keep competitive TF2 players other than money will be LANs, if Overwatch becomes an event at the big LANs, then that will guage more interest than any amount of £££ thrown at the game. Throwing money at something doesn't work, I think the marketing directors at Blizzard a little bit more intelligent than this.
