LF Scout midfight mentor

I've noticed lately that the weakest aspect of my gameplay is my midfights. Often times I find myself running around, either sticking to my demo or rushing the opposing demo before dying. My scout partner and I usually try to split cleaning up damage and playing passive, but I don't think I'm holding up my end of the deal.
