#28 How To Watch Competitive TF2: A WIP in Videos

This is a really great concept, and I'm glad we have people in this community willing to tackle these problems, thanks Backcap!

My only concern is that it can be difficult to both squeeze in the necessary information into a digestible 5-6 minutes video while providing enough information for the audience to grasp enough of what's going on. I could see some people watching the video, and still wondering "Why did those two members go behind the team and sit on the point, and why did the team pushing into mid have to go back for just two players", just because TF2 is a game with a lot of layers of understanding.

It would be nice if we could get, like, multiple videos like this, each one focusing at a specific facet of comp TF2. Then the videos could be shuffled / repeated more often during long casts like i58. For example, someone who's new could watch a short video on offclassing, and then during the next match, pay closer attention to how players offclass and at least appreciate the decision making for offclassing, rather than getting the tip of the iceburg and maybe still being kinda confused because its a lot to take in, even if the video is compressed into 5-6 minutes.

That's a lot of work though, and I know Backcap is doing a lot to help the community as it is, so for a single video that doesn't last forever and tries to get viewer's feet in the door for watching competitive TF2, the video does a great job, and the visuals are super helpful for understanding the concepts.

Edit:

swywhile I think this video is good on its own, it would be great if we could have a sort of "series" of these types of videos. assuming this video is a starting point, a second episode could focus on class roles and the basics of playing each, and it could expand to a series of videos that progressively get more complex, each being it's own mini-lesson

Must have missed this while reading, but yeah, tl;dr this

#7 lft scout/pocket in Recruitment (looking for team)

Lights is a great player who knows a lot about the game. Not only has he carried my sorry ass for 3 seasons to Open playoffs, but he is a fantastic leader and a great contributor to any team that picks him up. His scout DM can rival scouts at least in mid-open, and his soldier DM is definitely on-par with some of the best in Open. Not to mention he definitely knows his way around the game and has a season of maincalling experience. If you can read past his sarcastic trash-talk, he's a really friendly guy and fun to have around.

#15 ROGUE LFT Open Medic in Recruitment (looking for team)

Really nice Med who helped our team out in multiple pinches when my schedule didn't pan out. Great guy who's willing to do what it takes to improve, and dedicated to the game, great pick up for Open teams who are starting to get serious.

#4 Blue Elephant lf subs in Recruitment (looking for players)

It's true, making fun of K-Man has changed my life. I used to be a sad gentleman who had no job, no home, and 5 easy payments of $19.95 to the mafia I wasn't able to pay. But after joining Blue Elephant and experiencing making fun of K-Man, my life changed for the better. Now, I have a well paying job, I can look my parents in the eye again, and a beautiful girl who doesn't know I exist. Thanks, "making fun of K-Man", you've helped make fun in my life!

#5 Framesh1ft LFT Open Med in Recruitment (looking for team)

One time while I was at a candy store, my eye was caught on some delicious Sour Punch straws. But unfortunately, they were out of my favorite flavor, Green Apple. All that was left was Blue Raspberry and Red flavor. I wasn't sure which flavor could even stand up to the expectations that I had from my past experiences with Green Apple Sour Punch straws. Being lost in this world of candy, I asked Frameshift (Last season, about mid-February) which flavor I should get. And he replied with "WTF why would you message me about that?". At that point, I realized that my life was a downward spiral of consuming massive amounts of sugar and trying to suppress my depression with sugar highs. He was right, if I had to ask my friend about which flavor of Sour Punch straws I should get, I was having a candy problem. I'm now seeing a therapist for my Sour Punch straw addiction, and it's thanks to Frameshift and for looking out for me.

He's a really good medic. Pick him up.
