ScarfESEA, Twitch, ETF2L... Good to see these internet businesses are learning how not to run a business. There is a reason the phrase, "The client comes first" is a thing.
That is one of the stupidest things I have ever read.
ETF2L is a community league, there are no veiled interests here unlike the businesses you mentioned, it is run by volunteers.
Also, what happened was a case of bad management and poor decision making from all parties involved, the blame is not on the admins only, read sideshow post and a few posts on the etf2l thread and you will understand things could have been handled much better from every party involved.
