The verses I posted actually come from the Bible: Numbers 31:17-18, Psalm 137:9 and Ezekiel 5:10, respectively. The Quran verses I claimed they came from actually say:
“Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.”
“We have appointed a law and a practice for every one of you. Had God willed, He would have made you a single community, but He wanted to test you regarding what has come to you. So compete with each other in doing good. Every one of you will return to God and He will inform you regarding the things about which you differed.”
“And create not disorder in the earth after it has been set in order, and call upon Him in fear and hope. Surely, the mercy of Allah is nigh unto those who do good.”
The verses are about living peacefully and respecting people of other religions and doing good. Now, that’s not to say there’s nothing violent in the Quran, there is just like there is in the Bible. However, pretty much every holy book has violent rhetoric in it, as most religions today have their roots in a time when civilization was much more violent and bigoted. There will always be people from every religion that cherry pick the bad stuff from their holy book and follow that, but there will be many more that only look at the good and try to live their lives according to that! I know most of you are fairly tolerant of religions besides your own, but you should always strive to remember that every religion has its good and its bad. Always treat others based on their merit as a human being and NEVER based on your pre-conceived notions about their religion.
