The thumbnails are generated in a program I wrote for the tftv camera people. What you're recommending would be ideal, but the reason there were no thumbnails before is because of the large amount of effort needed to make them. Now they can be made in ~30 seconds w/ no knowledge of photoshop/gimp/whatever.
I don't have time to keep all the teams' avatars up-to-date. I don't even have time to fix it to where it can support 3+ maps. If someone with the time to do that steps up, they'd be happy to use it.
bleghfarecthese thumbnails are completely readable and convey information that is important in the video
That's all they need to be. (also saam's point is the main reason I didn't even try to make the thumbnails work the way OP recommends)
newbie mixes are the tutorial levels.
the other admins and i are the pamphlet that comes with the game that tells you how to put the disk in the drive.

Currently taking recommendations on (a) gray-scale poster(s) to put in the empty spot on the left. Looks weird w/ nothing there.

If you are down with having a bulkier setup with really good audio quality, go buy a nice XLR mic (I use an MXL 990) 2nd hand off a local or online shop, and hook it up to your PC with a setup like this:
THEY JUST PRONOUNCED FLATLINE WRONG THIS IS GOING WELL SO FAR
I have a few friends involved in this small charity stream that happens yearly. It's more of a big party that you can be a fly on the wall throughout, with some retro video games. They are at like 5-6 viewers right now, so it'd be cool to bring a bit of friendly traffic their way for a bit.
They are raising money for Doctors Without Borders. Go check 'em out, and maybe even leave a donation for the charity if you got a few extra bucks. There are some ridiculous donation incentives ($50 bucks for any one of the men to wear a skimpy cheerleader outfit for half an hour, for example)

Thanks, TF2 community!!!!
Hey, that was fun! Glad I made it out. I wasn't planning on going, but I was in Connecticut for something and figured it would be interesting.
Dr.shdwpuppet let me sleep in his room and drove me everywhere (including the train station at 4:30 am for pickup and 8 am the next day for drop-off.)
Stochastic, Dr.shdwpuppet, and I got Philly cheesesteaks at 5 am, which was ridiculous (especially considering that we had all slept before and were very sober)
I unexpectedly got on a team and did pretty decently given that I was on my laptop with a different mouse than the one I normally use. Also I'd played once in the past 4 months or so. I missed this game!
Someone came up and shook my hand in the middle of a match (I didn't see who it was, but I appreciate the enthusiasm!)
I had the most weird dinner of my life (in a good way!) with the sparklegang and friends.
The one dude thought my (apparently very flimsy) TN driver's license was sketchy, and gandalf paid for her (delicious) sugarwater with a lot of singles.
I also had a fun time in the bopper/goldfish room after the tournament. Met some people I was only casually acquainted with beforehand, which was great. I regret setting a hard cutoff time for myself before getting there. I have learned from my mistakes, and it won't happen again.
Sunday morning, I rode the train up to NYC, and hung out with family for a few days which was great, too.
Thanks everyone for being so accommodating! The RGB admins made sure I had Internet connection despite not being registered beforehand and space being very low. The TF2 community dealt with my newfound out-of-touch-ness. My friends were (and are) awesome.
the new maps cup was hosted because i missed gravelpit.
all other old maps are p bad tbh
i couldn't not cover this parody. this was my sunday.

newbie mixes (from 2014-2016ish when i was involved) brought LITERALLY THOUSANDS of new players into the comp community with our steam group. well over 1k people played their first games because of us, when they probably wouldn't have otherwise. we fed hundreds of players into UGC in the few short years i was involved in the mixes, and put a couple dozen fully formed, financially backed teams through esea's wild ride with the help of our mentorship program.
in my time in a leadership position, i pledged to guide the mixes in whatever direction the premier na league at the time was taking the game, so any of his personal problems with what we taught are completely baseless. but i mean it's aarontimes so it's not like he's developed a rational opinion on this matter using demonstrable evidence or reasoning
i really want to know the context in which he said that because if he means that generally, i may have to come back and start mixes back up, renaming them "aarontimes is a doofus mixes" for good measure
also i'm just gonna plop this here to try and steer this ship back a bit towards course https://twitter.com/KevinIsPwn/status/835523721599266816
