I used to be really addicted to TF2, and although I did well in school during the year my parents always took my monitor away during finals week. Eventually I just got sick of the game and uninstalled, you'll have moments where you install it again but that only happened once for me. Just try to get as much school work done as possible before you give in to the urge, but also try to make it quality work not mediocre.

I keep changing my configs, huds, sensitivity.

I used to do this a ton and a bunch of my friends kept telling me to stop. After awhile I only changed it every few weeks or month, but when I realized that the only way to get better and stay consistent is to have your settings stay the same and just play with what feels good to you. I mean look at b4nny, his settings have stayed the same for so long so that has to be one of the few contributing factors to him being one of the best, or the best person to ever play this game.

I never liked the cross because I didn't think it fit in with the ammo being numerical also, and I kind of thought it seemed larger than the actual numerical numbers for health.

Stuttering in TF2

Thank you! I cleaned out my PC and re-applied some thermal paste and ordering some RAM which should be on the way soon. After re-applying the new thermal paste it seemed to get a lot better and the stutters were virtually non-existent along with a more than normal CPU temp.
